First Aid Course To Open Tuesday
An advanced first aid course will open at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the central fire station. Mrs. J. H. Stiles, executive secretary of the county Red Cross chapter, announced the class. A. Hood, first aid chairman, will teach. Eligibility is limited to those who completed the standard course.

A surprise birthday dinner and dance at 2112 Twenty second honored Jewel and Mildred Chism and Kathlene Burrus with hosts Mrs. Troy Pierce and Mrs. Cordan Ansle Pierce. Funeral services for Mrs Cecil Barup held in Carlsbad
Funeral services for Mrs Cecil Barup 36 a former Lubbock resident who died Thursday morning after reporting for work at Carsbad Army Airfield will be conducted at 10 oclock Monday in Carlsbad. The body is at West Funeral home. Burial will be in a Carlsbad cemetery. Mrs Barup was formerly Beatrice Whiteface. Rev Harrell Rea resigns post to become pastor of Galveston Central Christian church. He is treasurer of the General Ministers Association and president of district 13 association. He earned a BA in 1938 and BD in 1942. He previously pastored Kaufman and Crowell churches. They have a 10 month old son.
