Tech board scales med school price to fit funds
Texas Tech University regents opened a month long search for architects to design a School of Medicine building with a cost not to exceed 25 million dollars, down from an earlier 50 million plan due to uncertain federal funding. A festive welcome greeted Rodney Speck at Lubbock Regional Airport as he returned home after six months of dialysis and a January kidney transplant. Crowds hailed him with banners and cheers while his father spoke of the relief and curiosity about life with the new organ. Trio Nabbed At Lubbock Country Club Bomb Plot
Police and federal agents arrested three young men at the Lubbock Country Club Friday amid plans to place bombs during a junior ROTC ball. Officers seized devices including BB bombs a smoke screen powder fuse and a starter pistol found in their car. Detectives said an attempt to plant the bombs on the dance floor was anticipated.

Stanton Youth Dies In Wreck
A Stanton youth died in a one car crash six miles east of Stanton on the I 20 service road. Leo Robert Cullison of Stanton died at the scene. Injured were David Hull 17 and Bernard Robertson 17 both of Stanton and admitted to Midland Memorial Hospital. Police said the car struck a guide wire of a light power pole and rolled over.
