Brush Fire Threat to Junction as Wind Shifts
A southwest wind aided by flames marching through 400 yard per hour growth drove a major brush fire north northwest of Junction Texas. About 300 workers from five counties fought the blaze through the night aided by bulldozers and cattle sprayers. 4,000 to 7,000 acres burned with cattle and sheep losses reported and several ranch houses threatened but not burned. Fire leadership from Junction and reinforcements from Kerrville Inglam Fredericksburg and Sonora fought the fire as crews planned for a possible wind shift toward Junction.
