Flames Gut Grain Elevator Sparks Fly In Lubbock Fire
A roaring 45 minute blaze gutted the Global Corporation grain elevator at 2209-11 Ave in Lubbock causing 25 000 to 30 000 dollars in damage. About 2 000 people watched as flames toppled the 90 foot structure and firemen protected nearby offices and warehouses. The fire began around 7 p m and was under control by 7 45 p m with a top portion of the building collapsing. An interior explosion was heard during the flames with wind spreading embers toward adjacent buildings. A small amount of grain remained in the gutted elevator and the incident was handled by Carl M. Smith of 3522 Ave Q and Leo Potishman Lee FLAMES DESTROY.

Harris Seeks District Attorney Post in 72nd Judicial District
Lubbock attorney C. L. Harris announced his candidacy for district attorney of the 72nd judicial district which includes Cochran Hockley Lubbock and Crosby counties. A. W. Salyars had also announced and resigned as assistant district attorney to join Brummett Brummett and Salyars. Harris, 41 native of Dickens county, was born at McAdoo and educated at Lubbock High School Texas Tech University the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas.
