Rev W Grosvenor of Trinity Episcopal Lenox was robbed in his home. burglars forced him to open the safe and took 250 dollars in cash a gold watch and the silver communion service. They fled on horses and a carriage to Southbridge after threatening the rector.
The Pacific steamer Australian was sighted ten miles off Golden Gate at noon today. Rebel admiral Mello has put to sea to meet the new Brazilian navy. The Cunarder Campania reached New York today from Liverpool in two days, 20 hours and 35 minutes.
Mr. Patrick Mead of this village, jaw broken in two places by an electric car at the Navy Yard, shows rapid improvement at St. John's Hospital. Democratic Somanttios of Decayaryana at the Navy Yard elected officers for the year, with George W. Ducey as Chairman and Jos. M. Clinton as Secretary. W. Haskell, an elderly resident, remains confined near the school by nervous prostration. Collins' mills expected to resume full time Monday. James Hines and John Clark pleaded not guilty to breaking and entering the Swift residence. Mrs. Swift testified to reclaiming property found on the defendants. Probable cause led to binding over for the grand jury. other suspects discharged.

The funeral for William W Bates was held yesterday from his Bryant street home with Rev Claude Raboteau directing. Bearers included Charlies Philbrick for the Veteran Firemen and others. interment at Edson cemetery. Mary Sullivan’s funeral was held at St Johns hospital this afternoon with burial in the Catholic cemetery.
The A P A gathered last night in Post 120 hall with no reporters inside. As members emerged around 10 pm a crowd of about 25 foreign born individuals and others gathered, some spoke, and reporters faced stares and a few attempts to be identified. About 100 attended, with only two or three clearly prominent Democrats among them.
The U S S Columbia completed her trial voyage at RockLaneD on November 18. She began at 9 26 30 a m but returned at 9 45 due to machinery trouble. Resuming at 9 54 30 she surged to the line and finished at 2 11 30 p m with an unofficial speed above 24 knots. Cramps' bonus by estimate nears 400000 dollars. the vessel earns the nickname The Gem of the Ocean.

A Chicago report to a morning paper says the city faces current liabilities of 1 300 000 at the start of next year. Mayor Swift and Controller Witherell told the finance committee the accounts are in an almost inextricable muddle and Deputy Controller Barrett’s system is not understood by anyone, not even Mr Barrett.
