On June 18, six hammers were stolen from the shed at the foot of Maple street where Thomas H. Spencer stored tools. Inspector Allen recovered the implements at Sanborn's pawn shop and obtained a description of the man. Neil McCrash was arrested for drunkenness and, matching the description, was taken to Sanborn's. In court, Spencer identified the tools and McCrush was held in $500 for the October term.

On a Saturday night a raid prompted by Agent Drury of the Humane Society found the Delaney family occupying two rooms in Wilth block on Suffolk street. Police found a drunken man and woman in one room while four children aged 3 to 13 lay on a bed. the rooms were filthy with vermin and swill behind a stove. The children were sent to a day nursery and the adults taken into custody.
