Agents at a meeting this afternoon decided whether to run on Memorial Day. The vote was not decisive and will be settled later. News is gratifying to thousands of mill operatives who planned an outing that day.
Col. John H. Grover, defeated Cincinnati Populist mayoral candidate, announces from Cincinnati that he will take 5000 unemployed to Washington to demand work or rations. He says the group will travel by train at an estimated cost of $10,000, not marching on foot. Some will go by rail to Chicago and via Iowa in captured box cars, with others marching. The move aims to press Congress for relief amid unemployment.
Street reports state that John Donovan's body was found either in the river or on the riverbank this afternoon. Authorities have not yet released official details or confirm location.
The mayor faces possible legal issues over licenses issued without proper legal accommodations. Alderman Johnson may resign, currently away in New York, with possible impacts on the council. John Gallagher known as Johnny, 15, of Dracut, was injured at Merrimack Woolen Mills in the Navy Yard Millis area when his clothing caught in a machine this morning. He dragged toward the press, received a severe head wound and skull fracture. he was taken to St. John’s Hospital by ambulance.
The Middlesex County sitting of the Supreme Judicial Court convened at the court house on Gorham street with Chief Justice Fields presiding. Prayer was offered by Rev. J. M.
