Yesterday afternoon a well dressed man about 35 entered the police station claiming to need help locating his family. His mind wandered, but he later said his name was James A Hennelly. He lived on Union street and stated he was in Somersworth N H. He was locked up and later sent to the city farm after authorities were alerted in Somersworth.
Warden B I Bridges of the Charles Town State Prison announces no holiday visits for prisoners. The rule, effective immediately, aims to reduce danger during holidays and give officers rest while prisoners remain under supervision. About 800 inmates are affected and families will be affected by the change.
After a two year illness Harrison P Hood died August 5 at 125 East Michigan Street Indianapolis. Born February 27 1844 in Salem he served in the 26th Massachusetts during the Gulf Department war then moved to Indianapolis where he started the first model and experimental machinery shop and became a patent solicitor. He invented the earliest cash register and held office in George H Thomas post. Survived by widow three sons and a daughter Ozni P Hood a Kansas Agricultural College professor Arthur M Hood and Ernest J Hood in industry and Mabel Hood a teacher. Funeral August 7 at his home.
The funeral for William F. Fitzgerald child of Edward and Bridget Witzgerald occurred at 2 pm from No 6 Brophey’s yard with burial in the Catholic cemetery. Undertaker O’Donnell in charge. Horatio H. Redliff’s funeral was today at 3 pm from his South Chelmsford residence with Rev Daniel Dorchester of Melrose officiating. interment planned in the family lot at Claremont New Jersey tomorrow morning.
The Belvidere Whist club composed of ladies from Lowell and Chelmsford was hosted Tuesday afternoon and evening by Mrs James P Emerson in Chelmsford Centre. Lawn and veranda tables offered refreshments and games along with whist for a highly enjoyable sociable event.
