In Pittsburg on the Monongahela river the traveling crane on the new Wa bash bridge broke and collapsed. Workers on the overweighted projecting section, on the barge below, and in nearby water were crushed or drowned. Rescue boats, skiffs, ambulances, and physicians converged as corpses and injured were recovered.

Found Dead in Farragut House From Gas Accident
Thomas Fahey, about 50, was found on the third floor of the Farragut house at 8:30 this morning in a dying condition from illuminating gas. A chambermaid smelled gas, opened the door, and he died before a doctor arrived. Fahey had been staying at the house, had talked of taking a job at Appleton mills, and police sought relatives, possibly brother Martin Fahey of 101 Tremont Street. Dr. Bass attended. death returned as accidental.
