George N. Annis, 56, was found dying in bed in Barre with a revolver nearby. He died at 6 am after a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head and heart. Letters showed trouble with his wife who resides in Lowell Massachusetts, though relatives say they had separated for years. He leaves a daughter Mrs. J E Harriman of 78 Tyler street.

In Lowell superior court the case of Wm E Livingston vs City of Lowell over damages to land on Princeton street continued. Real estate dealer Royal Stevens testified to commissions and land sales while contractor Douglass and others described the street widening and macadamizing as benefiting nearby property, with several witnesses estimating damages or gains. The jury heard expert opinions on the impact of the street project and adjourned to Thursday morning for more evidence.
Police captured Peter Martin and John Quinn yesterday afternoon in the woods off Meadowcroft street. Martin, described as dangerous, offered little resistance and was cuffed quickly. Quinn slept nearby and awoke to find bracelets on his wrists as officers Duncan and Cogger placed him under arrest. Martin faces a warrant from Misek Besmagian for assault and battery. Quinn was arrested on general principles. Martin’s history and a previous Appleton street tussle with Inspector Latiamme are noted, with blood on his clothes possibly from a separate fracas with a foreigner who filed the warrant. The men were taken to the police station and jailed.
The Veteran Fire men of Lowell, the Vixens and General Butlers, were loaded on flat cars and started for Manchester this morning. The combined companies traveled with uniforms and many champions accompanied to back the favorites. The Manchester muster is large and Lowell expects to perform well.
Arrangements are under way for a Farmers Institute this season by the Middlesex North Agricultural Society. The event will be held at Billerica on October 25 with Prof. J. W. Sanborn of Gilmanton New Hampshire delivering a talk on The new agriculture or a system of farming for success. Sanborn has ties to New Hampshire and Missouri agricultural colleges and brings broad practical and experimental farming experience.
Mr Robert Houston of the Spindle City Quaiting club received a farewell at Bay State hall on Wednesday as he prepares to depart for Chicago. Archie Bennis presented Mrs Houston with a gold mounted briar pipe after toasts and refreshments. The Murray club of the First Universalist church met Wednesday at Miss Minnie J Farnham's home on School street. They voted to add a fourth anniversary celebration on Nov 8 at Mrs Clara Wrights North Chelmsford home with supper as a feature. An informal entertainment followed the business meeting.
At the Republican headquarters yesterday the Seventh District senatorial committee elected Joseph Miller as chairman and D W Bugbee as secretary. On motion by George C Evans it was voted to hold the senatorial convention at 7 30 oclock on October 16 in the headquarters of the Republican city committee.

Wakefield Company A Lowell Company C and Stoneham Company H led the Sixth Infantry annual rifle shoot at Walnut Hill. Eleven teams competed under Maj. Gihon with Captains drawing for targets. Scores near 200 yards ranged with Company C totaling 391 and Company G 238. Private Gannon won top individual prize of 50 dollars. Company C earned second prize and Gannon also claimed a company portrait.
A fashionable wedding took place at the bride’s grandparents home on Blakelin Street with Wilmer John Hutchins and Miss Ina Gelie Wheeler as the central couple. The ceremony occurred in the parlor under a floral horseshoe as Rev. Arthur Snell and Rev. E P Tuller officiated, with music from a Lohengrin wedding march.

Wednesday evening Thomas and Arthur McDermott hosted about forty children at their Pawtucketville home. After refreshments they played games and sang. Participants included Misses Virginia Waller, Eva Armstrong, Clare Thereau and Masters Elmer Davis, John Frazier, and Thomas McDermott, who received many gifts.
In Hadley, five drunks were fined amounts differing by individual, with prior pleas of not guilty. Larceny case against Joseph G. Haas continued to afternoon. Mary Konago fined 2.40 for assault. Fred D. Glines and George I. Pierce fined 75 and 100 for liquor keeping, Pierce appealing and ordered in 300.
Registrars added only five names to the voting lists yesterday afternoon, but 43 were added in the evening. Sessions of the board are planned for every afternoon and evening this week. The water board held minor hearings, transacted routine business, and discussed finance. The chemist hired for well water analysis has not reported yet.
John L. Brennan died yesterday at his home aged 43 leaving a mother and six brothers four in this city one in Ellensburg New York and one in Santa Clara New York and a sister in Plattsburg New York O Donnell will send the body to Ellensburg New York today.
In North Billerica Mary Josephine Powers aged 26 wife of Patrick Powers died in North Billerica on Oct. TH Brennan died at his home 11 Sargent Street in this city on Oct. 11 age 42 He is survived by relatives and friends with funeral arrangements yet to be announced.
Dr. McIntosh, finishing term as house officer at St. John's hospital October 1, plans to settle in Lowell and has opened an office on Kirk street. Grace church choir adds contralto Mrs. George E. Burns. other members include Daisy Shaw Merritt, Osmond Long, William H. Palmer, with Mrs. C. S. Sturtevant as organist. Engagement announced for Miss Glora Fisher of Lawrence and James Brady of Lowell, deaf mutes, to wed early next month. Charles E. Adams of this city elected director of the Paint and Oil club of New England.
The funeral of Mrs Frances Boyd was held late yesterday afternoon with her husband and brother among about six friends in attendance. Burial followed at Edson cemetery and no services were conducted.
John Earl the small pox patient shows improvement with no unsatisfactory symptoms in two days and no new cases detected. The 16th Massachusetts regiment reunion, featuring many Lowell men, is set for October 17 at the Quincy House in Boston with a noon reception, business meeting, and dinner. Many from Lowell expected to attend.
