Tough Boy Dowd Sentenced to Jail
Albert Dowd a 17 year old Pawtucketville youth was ordered jailed for two months by Judge Pickman after pleading guilty to assaulting Charles Blood. Dowd described striking Blood three times over alleged lies about food at his home. Blood testified he bore no grudge and asked to be left alone. Dowd had prior police court and superior court probation records for theft from his father. Other cases heard included drunkenness sentences for Mary Platt and Mary McDonald, with Platt appealing.

Two Men Slain in Firefight As Desperate Escape Ends
Burns Oregon October 7. Special deputy John G. Saxton and rancher Jack West were killed by escaped prisoner John Frost alias Harry Egbert in a Wild Horse Valley ranch house. Egbert, armed with a rifle, fired through a partition. Saxton wounded and fought on, later dying, as West fell from a back shot. Egbert fled on a horse after securing it at a distant ranch.

Cruel horse abuse case shocks Lowell police
A valuable horse owned by Edelmard S. Demarais was found severely injured after being struck and dragged by a wagon near the old Lowell and Lawrence railroad embankment.
