Boston October 2 A meeting of the Republican State committee outlined the arrangements for the State convention to be held at the Boston theatre Friday. A resolutions committee was named with W C Lovering chairman and members from across the state. A pre convention dinner at Youngs hotel was private and informal with Samuel J Hitler W C Lovering Herbert Parker and Robert O Harris among the guests.
In Hingham on October 2 the condition of Miss Helen Long daughter of the secretary of the navy is reported not to be improving. The secretary is en route from Washington and is due to arrive tonight.
Washington, D. C. Oct 1 Secretary Long left Washington for his Hingham home due to his daughter's illness. Miss Long had recently traveled from Colorado seeking a cure for pulmonary trouble. On the return trip she worsened prompting her father to join her and then depart to be with her.
Judge Lawton issues a decree in the probate court granting Mrs Kate Roberts custody of her two children and 4 dollars weekly separate maintenance. McIntire and Wilson served as Mrs Roberts attorneys in the case.
The Traders National Bank offers general banking, foreign exchange in English French Swedish money, safety deposit boxes with private rooms, and a savings department. Interest begins monthly, compounding semi annually. It maintains ladies banking rooms and serves as a depository for the United States and Massachusetts. Banking hours run 8 A.M. to 4 P.M. weekdays and 8 A.M. to 1 P.M. Saturdays, with evening hours 7 to 9 P.M. Locations are 30 to 46 Middlesex Street and 11 to 24 Post Office Avenue.
A morning blaze at the Stanard Milling Co plant in Alton Illinois destroyed the mill complex spanning an entire block of elevators and mills. High winds fueled the fire and threatened adjacent buildings as St Louis sent two full fire companies for aid. Estimated losses reached 500000 with 200000 borne by Stanard Milling, while reports of missing workers remain unconfirmed.

In Chicago on October 2 the funeral for Thomas Brow was halted to identify the body as a Heldman dynamite conspiracy suspect. Frank Hardy testified Brow lit the fuse, linking him to the Edgeworth yard wreck. the identification could free another man jailed on related charges.
A report to the marine hospital service states that as of September 30 the new Italian emigration law took effect. It designates Naples Genoa and Palmero as the only ports from which emigration is permitted with Venice removed, and provides for supervision of immigration.
Lieut. Commander Alexander M. Sharp, commander of the Vixen, testified at the Schley inquiry. He described squally weather on the Cienfuegos to Santiago voyage and said he would have attempted coal duties if ordered, though it would have been uncomfortable.
