Charles H Durrell aged 60 was found dead in bed in Boston this morning with the gas turned on full force. He was despondent and authorities investigate the suicide.
A Washington telegram reports Major General Nelson A. Miles has written to the secretary of war recommending that Fort Townsend in Port Townsend be occupied by troops immediately. The message confirms the army aims to secure the fort without delay.
John Magner of 184 Moore Street reports a closet full of clothing burned at 10 30 a m today. The fire started in a chamber and a telephone alarm summoned firefighters. Considerable damage occurred to the room before the blaze was extinguished.
In Lawton a special Probate court session heard the widow of Prescott Jones petition for a widow's allowance. Judge Lawton presided as John Davis for administrator Steadman Fox noted $5500 real and $2700 personal estate, while Peter A. Fay represented the petitioner. The widow already received $25 monthly from her guardian for their three children, and the court took the matter under consideration.

Respect widely noted. Thomas A. Lees about 19 died at 40 Chippewa Street Saturday of pneumonia. he was an engraver. This marks the fifth death in the family circle within nine months.
