Philadelphia on November 24 Ellery P. Ingham former U S district attorney and his law partner Harvey K Hewitt were sentenced to two years and six months imprisonment and fined one dollar plus costs for conspiracy in attempting to bribe Secret Service operatives tied to a large revenue stamp counterfeiting conspiracy.
Boston November 24. The battleship Kentucky started her trial trip early this morning under an eight knot northwest land breeze. The sea was moderately smooth and the weather clear. The vessel left anchorage for the first stake boat off Cape Ann with Sampson Evans and Rodgers aboard.

Nelson Boardeau of 567 Moody Street employed in the picker room of Tremont and Suffolk corporation was injured when a three inch belt on a machine dropped off and wrapped around the shaft. The belt struck his left leg and right arm, causing severe injuries later found to be contusions. he was taken by ambulance to Lowell Hospital at 1:20 PM.
In a morning session, Charles Armstrong and Francois Bacon were noted among many offenders. Armstrong faces $400 bond for the superior court after probable cause was found. Bacon is held for the superior court in $700 after a case detailing Simon’s stab wound and repeated confrontations, with witnesses including Dr. Smith and several officers.
Constable Richard Flynn clashed with James H Tivnan and Annie Tivnan at Shanahan's court off Cross street during rent eviction. Tivnan attacked with axe and bread knife, Flynn restrained him after a struggle near Broadway and Adams streets. Edwards and the woman were injured or detained, watch lost but no serious injuries.
In St Pauls chapel Boston the Massachusetts diocesan organization of girls friendly societies held an all female discussion on Some of Womens Opportunities with Miss McIntosh presiding. About 250 women attended as members from St Pauls Malden Lowell and other branches participated. The session covered domestic and esthetic topics with Miss Olive Dodge and Miss Amelia Bennett among the speakers.
Nathaniel J Witts aged 49 died yesterday at his home 135 Railroad street leaving a wife and four small children. Edward Trainor died at his home 123 Charles street last night leaving four sons Charlies Radward Henry and John and one daughter Annie. His wife was buried four months ago yesterday.
Funeral services were held for Catherine Scott at St Patrick s church with a high mass led by Rev Mr Leonard and assistants. Bearers came from Lowell Worcester East Boston and burial was in the Catholic cemetery via Undertaker O Connell. Bridget Doyle s funeral followed with services at Molloy s rooms and grave at the Catholic cemetery. Mary A Seaver died in Lawrence and was buried in Hudson cemetery by Undertaker Young. Howard Trainor aged 41 died in this city on November 23.
Ward L. Normandeau son of a late millionaire carriage maker escaped from Manhattan State hospital for the insane to seek rest at St. Cloud Retreat near Quebec for a three week sojourn. He reportedly agrees to the stay to satisfy his aunt Lady Normandeau before Sita inherits over a million dollars from the late Sir Stephen Normandeau of Montreal. He is described as handsome and highly accomplished, with studies at Ottawa University and the Montreal Conservatory of Music.
