Paris November 15. The court of cassation informed the minister of the colonies that it has decided to notify Dreyfus by telegraph that a revision of proceedings has begun and that he may prepare his defence. The minister received a cable stating Dreyfus is in good health. The decision marks a change, as no innovation had been admitted before. Questions will be drafted and sent to Dreyfus for his replies.
Col Jared Smith, a government engineer, reports after a month’s inspection of Atlantic coast defences that Cleveland says harbor works are highly advanced and would deter any foreign warship. He asserts the defenses are among the world’s best and will soon be nearly impregnable.
Stoughton Mass Nov 15 Judge Marden of the district court rendered a verdict in the inquest into the death of Franklin M Waters from the railroad accident on the New York New Haven and Hartford line at Sharon on August 21 finding D W Getchell engineer of the rear section of the train responsible.
Des Moines Iowa November 15 Congressman Hager will introduce a bill to admit Osborne Diegman one of the Merrimac heroes to the Annapolis naval academy. Because he is over age a special act of Congress is required.
Marlboro Massachusetts November 15 The industrial situation in the city is unchanged this morning. Idle strike factories are accepting the situation philosophically. The striking workers remain confident of victory.
Chicago November 15 members of the Illinois Naval brigade who served in the recent war have begun steps to organize an Illinois Veteran association and will seek incorporation. The report notes veterans aim to unite former naval personnel under a formal body.
Topeka Kansas November 15 The Populists declare no special session will be called after recent state elections. The article notes political stalemate and party divisions with no immediate plan for legislature beyond existing session.
Gov Leedy and state officials decided there would be no extra session and the Populist administration will go out of business without pursuing any extraordinary party legislation.
Frederick W. Johnson an 11 year old colored boy was killed at Fenner's lodge Cranston while playing near a derrick. A misreleased brake caused the boom to strike him delivering a skull fracture. A bullet hole in his cap suggests possible gunfire by a companion though the event is treated as an accident.
In police court Napoleon Laroque was convicted of stealing two barrels of robbers from a Pine street barn and fined $15. Six drunks were processed with fines of $1, $2, and probation for one. William J. Flynn appealed to the superior court in $200 bonds. Peter Riley jailed two months. Bridget Buckley, charged with illegally selling liquor, fined $50 and appealed to the superior court with $300 bond. Court Officer William G. Samps returned from a Maine hunting trip.

Private Audette of the Seventh Infantry is due to report at Fort Brady after his furlough expired but plans to go to Fort Warren. The Fort Warren officer will notify Fort Brady of his presence and it is hoped he will depart west within ten days. Audette, once very ill in Lowell, has recovered though his father in Salem street faces serious concerns. If his father dies Audette could receive another furlough extension. Wamesit lodge No. 25 K of P plans a whist party on November 21. Flowers laid on the Old Ladies' Home janitor Mr Miller's casket were contributed by the Home's elderly residents.
