In Wilmington North Carolina on November 10 a mob of about 600 armed white men attacked the Daily Record offices run by Black publishers after alleged noncompliance by Negroes. The building burned but flames were contained with fire engines. nearby structures include St Luke's Negro church and a frame building housing Black residents. Fearing retaliation, streets remain crowded with armed whites and as many as a thousand guards are expected tonight. The marchers included prominent white citizens and ministers carrying Winchesters.
Paris reports say American commissioners produced a long memorandum in English and left translation to Spanish colleagues. The action, seen as outraging diplomatic forms, sparks belief in early rupture in negotiations.
Boston November 10 A massive fire endangering the John P. Squire & Co pork packing plant in East Cambridge prompted three alarms two from Cambridge and one from Somerville. The blaze began near Gore street and the cause remained unknown as fire crews fought the flames.
Lincoln Nebraska November 10 Senator Thurston comments on the western election results including Nebraska stating the victory is an unconditional endorsement of the President's administration and war conduct and foreign policy. He adds the outcome eliminates free silver as the national issue in 1900.
Washington dispatch reports General Miles and his staff departed for New York to dine in his honor at the Union League club. He will stay through Sunday.
J Thomas Jackson of Spanish descent faced drunkenness charges and pleaded guilty, receiving a fine. Three other inebriates were released while two more were fined five dollars each. Michael Cunningham, called an old timer, was sentenced to the workhouse for five months. Michael H Murphy faced a charge of illegal use of registered milk bottles, case continued with bond set at 200 dollars until November 16.
Emeril Lanove of 230 Riverside street suffered a severe laceration to three fingers on his left hand while at work in the carpenter shop at Massachusetts mills this morning. An ambulance carried him to the corporation hospital.

The State association of Spiritualists convened at Old Fellows Hall in Lowell despite bad weather. Officers present were Dr. George Fuller of Worcester as president and Carrie L. Hatch as state secretary. Morning program featured singing, prayers, addresses by local and visiting leaders, and a British representative urged Spiritualists to build rather than dismantle. Dinner and an afternoon program with Harrison D. Barrett of Boston followed, with supper planned in the hall.

A stubborn blaze last evening damaged the long wooden building owned by George L. Cady & Sons at Western Avenue and Fletcher Street. The fire started in the lower floor of the two story basement area used for wood turning and milling, with flames reaching the second floor before firefighters contained it. Damages include destroyed lumber and woodwork, with little insurance on stock and machinery. a renter, J. Smythe, suffered minor losses, and O. D. Wilder faced only smoke damage. The fire department's prompt action likely saved the rest of the structure.

Mr Heaton Edwards Symonds a clerk in City Institution for Savings and Miss Winnifred Marietta Flagg of Townsend were married Wednesday morning at the Congregational church in Townsend by Rev C H Rowley using the Episcopal form. Best man was H A Thompson with ushers Charles D Paige JL Foss Clarence Chandler. Bride given away by Eugene Flagg. She wore a black velvet gown with pink chiffon bodice and a black velvet hat with white feathers. A church reception followed and the couple left on the 12 13 train amid rice showers. They will reside in this city.
Curtis A. Talbot, once a city engineer for Hamilton Manufacturing Shaw Stocking and other firms, died Tuesday night at his New Boston New Hampshire home at age 76. He leaves a widow, one son Charles an engineer on the Boston and Maine, daughters Mrs. Emma J. Chapman and Mrs. Nellie C. Gordon, and sister Mrs. A. G. Swan.
