The Boston schooner Polar Wave ran aground in Sugar Cove Clay Head Block Island in dense fog and rain early today. The vessel lies high on the beach full of water and probably a total loss. The crew escaped unharmed.

A riot at the Obenkhoff Armor Plate works between St. Petersburg and Schlosselbourg on Tuesday saw strikers smash windows and be fired upon by gendarmes. Several workers were killed and many wounded as authorities moved to quell the unrest.

Alderman John J. Sullivan admitted spending $23.50 of city funds on a Boston trip with a subcommittee. He claimed meals and taxis were necessary for duty, denying improper use, while details of receipts and other expenses were disputed amid questions from local citizens.

At a May 23 meeting in Andover the General Association of Congregational Churches of Massachusetts chose Plymouth for the next annual gathering and elected officers for the Massachusetts Home Missionary Society. Rev. W V W Davis, Rev. A L Conrad, Rev. Eugene C Webster, and Rev. Frank L Bristol were named leaders. Dr. Ament outlined China conditions, calling for renewed missionary effort as locals arm against foreigners. Resolutions backed Ament and other missionaries. A $142.15 gift was given to Rev.
