New York dispatch reports General MacArthur moving toward Malolos from Marillo at 9 30 AM in an effort to seize Bocave. Prisoners say Aguinaldo plans a final stand at Malolos. if defeated he will abandon further resistance and quit the revolt.
Passengers aboard the Spanish steamer Montevidio, arriving from Havana, claim that as they left Havana a number of American soldiers killed a black child who stole a loaf of bread, and that the populace attacked the soldiers who were reportedly reinforced.
In New York on March 28 officials recovered bright charred bones from the Windsor Hotel debris on the 47th street side. The identifying sex remains impossible to determine. They are recorded as the 33d known death from the March 17 fire.
Topeka Kansas March 28 Henry Sanderson a young farmer who tried to shoot his sweetheart Sunday due to jealousy was taken from jail by a mob and lynched this morning.
At an adjourned town meeting in Arlington on Monday evening the selectmen are authorized to contract for street lighting with Somerville Electric Light Co for one year. Water matters are referred to water commissioners while maintaining town works. Budget items list numerous appropriations including almshouse 2500, schools 36280, highways 19500, fire department 9000, sewers 397.28, sinking fund 13461.36. Meeting adjourned to next Monday evening.
George W. Poore reports the Lowell and suburb apportionment for Republican conventions including congressional county counsellor district attorney senatorial and representative divisions. Totals show Lowell gains with Chelmsford Dracut and surrounding towns accruing delegates and votes across twenty fifth twenty sixth and twenty seventh districts compared to last year.

Exeter New Hampshire March 28 200 workers were restored to a 10 percent wage increase after a year of cuts in the Exeter cotton mills. The action affects about 200 workers and follows reports from Havana that no Valencia incident occurred.

John James Armour held for superior court on a rape charge with a $1500 bond and no counsel. In separate incidents Dennis O Connor jailed or fined for disorderly conduct on a Lawrence street car. Harvey B Belleau guilty of drunkenness and assault and battery on a Chinese man. Johanna Moriarty and Mary Mulcahy sent to the workhouse for common drunkenness. Amable House case continued. other drunks fined small amounts. a man and wife separation tale closes the report with a police perspective.
Mrs Mary D. Anderson of 208 Middlesex Street pleads with police to trace her husband Arthur W. Anderson amid claim he has taken a child from a prior marriage. She describes hypnotic influence, mesmerism passes, and says she is under a strange spell since his departure. The couple married about two years ago in Troy New York with four of her children and his one.
The Textile Council in a Monday meeting outlined a plan to spend about 60 000 to 70 000 by united textile labor organizations to erect a building near the city center. Ground floor stores with upper floors fully equipped for the labor groups were proposed, and site choice was referred to the four unions to decide.
Patrick Reading of LoWell, a lineman on the electric road, fell about 20 feet from a ladder while working on a broken trolley wire at Hudson. He was taken to Emergency hospital in Nashua with a severely injured back but no serious or permanent damage is anticipated.
At a Worthen Street M E church board meeting on March 31 a committee from the fourth quarterly conference presented resolutions praising the faithful service of retiring pastor Rev E T Curnick D D. The resolutions were adopted by rising vote.
In the superior court Judge Bond presides as the libel case Jefferson v Harrington begins. Dr Jefferson, the plaintiff, testifies this morning while counsel Cowley represents the plaintiff and J J Hogan and W A Hogan appear for the defense. Public schools to close from Thursday night through Monday April 10.
Revised returns recount Donnelly of 328 Adams street saying he was stabbed in a Liberty square affray rather than injured in a Market street collision. He reported ear injury and a deep cut near the ear, claiming wagon fall and being run over. A doctor testifies Donnelly earlier claimed a knife caused his wounds by another man. The youth faced drunkenness charges in court yesterday.
Mrs Melvina Cummings formerly of Lawrence and Methuen died Sunday in Haverhill after a recent shock. Survived by daughter Annie Cummings of Haverhill sister Jennie Perham of Lawrence and brother Foster Perham of this city. Prayers at 281 Washington Street Haverhill Wednesday at 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM church services in North Chelmsford with no further notice.
Henry Kileski aged 79 born in Birnbaum Posen immigrated 1848 to America and Lowell later ran underwear and clothing shops, became constable and held Odd Fellows ranks with family in Cambridge. William Chase, longtime Lowell carpenter, died at 32 West Fifth Street after 30 years in city service. brother of City Auditor David Chase, funeral Wednesday at 1 PM. Thomas McNulty aged 56 died at sister-in-law’s home on Market Street leaving a son John. Frank Jewett ex-Lowell resident died in Denver leaving wife and four children. Jewett was a former N J Wier employee and Odd Fellows member.
Funeral services for William Knapp were held at his home on Moody Street with Rev George F Kennett officiating and singing by Miss Hill and Miss Wing. Burial followed in Edson cemetery with Merrimack lodge I C O F bearers. service conducted at grave.
Young party hosted by Little Miss Hattie Wood daughter of Dr and Mrs Charles R Wood of Wilderstreet entertained 15 guests with games and cake in a neighborhood gathering reflecting a poised social scene for children.

A son was born at noon yesterday to Mr and Mrs Chas Clough of 48 Hamilton corporation. Isaac Allard says the baby winks at him. Mrs J. S. Wells returns from seven months in Vermont and New York. Mrs W. F. Wilder returns from Aiken S C and is much improved. General Manager Sullivan of the Lowell and Suburban railway sails for Europe. Col A H Goetting appoints George W Poore to committee on cities in the Republican State convention. James McAnney keeper of the rifle range at Dracut is seriously ill. George W Patten recently ill but out this Monday. Lieut Col Philip Reade inspector general USW and officers Gerhardat Eaton and Turner of the Eighth Infantry summoned for examination in Havana. Exam to determine fitness for promotion ordered by General Ludlow per President’s authorization. The Citizen erroneously announced George K Leighton’s death in Denver. Leighton is healthy and in Lowell.
