Fitchburg reports show Beoki mills weavers of the American Woolen Co not preparing a strike. Looms run normally and no widespread dissatisfaction. A meeting will discuss Olneyville strikers and fundraising, but no action beyond financial help is expected.
New York March 27 Parliament adjourns for ten days. Rumor mongers are quiet amid east winds. Lora Rosebery and the Duke of Devonshire have retired to the continent. No cabinet changes expected this year. Joseph Chamberlain and A. J. Balfour remain close allies. Chamberlain aims to stay at the colonial office and focus on the South African settlement after the war. He plans a tour of the colonies for eight to ten months to visit Canada Australia New Zealand and South Africa.
Cape Town March 27 Preparations for Cecil Rhodes state funeral set for April 2 with flags at half mast. Attendees at his sick bed recall Rhodes lamenting unfinished work saying so little done so much to do and he regretted the tasks left behind.
Lawrence report states Mrs Amelia Butterfield aged 46 was fatally burned after her clothing caught fire from a stove at 93 Bodwell Street this afternoon. She was found unconscious on the floor, taken to the hospital, and died. Two children were in the home.
Albert T. Patrick, convicted last night of murdering Wm. M. Rice, met today with his father Col. Patrick and Chicago counsel Mr. Turner. He remained calm and critical of the trial, saying no one in court expected the verdict and questioning the impact of the district attorney and judge's addresses. He reviewed handwriting evidence, excluded testimony about Rice's will actions, Scheppfel’s intended testimony, and Adams on cremation.

A blaze in Chihuahua today destroyed the round house carpenter shop and entire plant of the Chihuahua and Pacific railroad company. The fire origin is unknown and the loss is estimated at 100,009 dollars. Most engines were wiped out except two.
Duluth Minn March 27 The Minnesota dairy and food department has scored its first conviction under the pure liquor law Captain Henry Savage has been convicted of selling impure whiskey and 40 other prosecutions are pending awaiting the decision in the Savage case.

Fort Worth March 27. United States Avenue Inspector Cobb bans the importation of Texas cattle into the Cherokee nation. The ruling affects expected grazing of over 500000 head starting in April, with Santa Fe handling about 200000. Texas stockmen face losses and must seek other pastures, many already claimed.
After 1877 in court, the Republic Life Insurance company is ordered wound up by Judge Tuley. Equitable Trust, receiver, reports assets of 44725 dollars against 1.3 million in claims. Over 2300 claimants have received about 30 cents on the dollar. Samuel Ward was first receiver, later replaced by Equitable Trust.
In Mayfield Kentucky on March 27 two about fourteen year old boys were indicted for killing a horse skinning it and selling the hide for 1 50. They were tried and sentenced to the school of reform but due to no room were whipped until they shed tears under Sheriff Harris with a new cowhide. The horse's owners paid for it.

An official estimate shows seven Lowell cotton mills employing about 16,914 workers with 7407 males and 9507 females and a weekly payroll near 125,700 dollars. Mills report 3800 to 6000 looms and 109,700 to 185,000 spindles, with products including sheetings, flannels, towels, and yarns as Textile council plans a potential Monday strike pending a 10 percent wage increase.
In Oakland, March 27, $45,000 of the $100,000 needed for a proposed woolen mill has been subscribed in recent days. Local capitalists expect the remaining $55,000 to be raised easily, aiming to keep stock within the town. W. T. Haines of Waterville and Geo. W. Taylor of Camden were early movers. Houston March 27 Mrs Lizzie Miller a widow was killed and her daughters Mary 10 and Carrie 17 were injured while crossing a street at a grade crossing. They tried to escape a switching freight train and moved into the path of a string of cars being shoved across the street. Mrs Miller was torn to pieces in the wreck.
Charles H Joyce guides a green horse on Merrimack Street when it bolts toward a five and ten cent store near Hildreth building. The horse crashes through a side window causing a deep cut near its left eye, while bystanders restrain the animal. Joyce escapes unharmed, the horse is treated and later put up for sale.
Emperor Francis Joseph washed the feet of 12 aged men at the Hofburg Maundy service witnessed by nobility and diplomats including United States Minister Robert S. McCormick and Secretary Chandler Hale. The monarch hung money bags on the participants whose combined age reached 1070 years. 12 women also received gifts totaling 1182 years.
