The Lamson 400 club held its fifth annual party and smoke talk Saturday evening at Otto Hahn's Marginal Street home. Charles C. Foot led the gathering and presented a Morris chair to Mr. and Mrs. Hahn, who accepted it. The program featured vocal, instrumental, and phonographic selections followed by lunch.
Mayor Dimon ordered the Pawtucket bridge closed to all travel except pedestrians. Supt Brady carried out the order, effective this morning, due to lack of funds for watchmen and no renewal provision to prevent potential disaster.

The body of Vilas Marks, who died after a fall at 32 Massachusetts corporation on Saturday night, remains unclaimed at J. W. Brooks Undertaker rooms. He is said to have two daughters aged 25 or 26 living in Cambridge. no other details about his connection are known.
An electric car en route to Chelmsford Centre left the rails opposite the city farm buildings shortly after 11 am this morning. It mounted the sidewalk, broke a fender and damaged a fence. No injuries were reported among several passengers, but the incident caused line delays.

A March Birmingham storm with fierce wind and rain wrecked homes and businesses in the city and nearby towns. Seven killed in Irondale with many injured. police, fire, ambulances, and surgeons rushed to aid. North Birmingham and Pratt City also suffered heavy damage. unroofed school, blown church steeple, and numerous wrecked cabins reported.
Pekin march 25 The foreign ministers cannot agree on policing the legation quarters. The majority backs detailing regular army men under one allied officer while the minority opposes. Rockhill and Satow prefer soldiers not liable to be called away. Russians warn Manchurian agreement must be signed by Tuesday or negotiations break off. The agreement effectively annexes Manchuria.
Patrick Dolan district president of the United Mine Workers announces after a three week conference that the operator concedes the miners wage demands. A fair Pittsburg district settlement has been reached and other districts will be addressed this week.
The Ophir carrying the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York arrived in Malta during their round the world voyage and was greeted by a brilliant reception. A flotilla of ten torpedo boats escorted the steamer out to sea for 18 miles.
Kiel reports the overdue German steamer Brutus, traveling from Scotland, is lost with all crew and passengers. The March 25 bulletin confirms no survivors. Authorities allege rough seas contributed to the disaster.
Arthur S. Cutler, formerly of Merrill and Cutler architects, is named clerk of the lands and buildings department at city hall and began duties this morning. He headed the civil service eligibility list. W. C. Piper, the former acting clerk, resumes his prior duties in the same department.
A 23 year old named Perigny died after falling twelve feet while lowering a carriage from Col. J. W. Bennett’s stable at 205 Branch street. He sustained a base skull fracture and died about 2:10 PM at St. John’s hospital. John Reidy assisted and notified the household at 6 Market street.
Vilas Marks aged 68 died after a fall down stairs at 32 Massachusetts corporation around 8 PM Saturday. The incident was witnessed by neighbors who found him at the foot of the stairs, bleeding from the nose ears and mouth. Medical examiner later ruled death from cerebral hemorrhage caused by an accidental fall. Marks left a wife and children in Cambridge and had long resided in Lowell, working at a Central street tailor shop.
James McDonald of 11 Tremont corporation suffered a broken collarbone when a lumber piece struck him as he unloaded a truck on Saturday, and he was thrown to the ground.
The Young Men's Christian Association board sets a business men's anniversary banquet for Tuesday April 23. President H. C. Pritchett of MIT will attend and speak, as the association aims to cap a strong year with a memorable closing meeting.
William Reardon jailed three months after being found guilty of stealing a cloak valued at 7.50 from John A. Storey’s New York Cloak and Suit Co store on John Street. Storey and clerk Perry L. Willey chased a second man who escaped with the garment, while Reardon claimed ignorance of his accomplice. Other court actions included drunkennness cases and brief jail terms or fines for several defendants.
Among the certificates of organization filed at the secretary of State's office during the past week is the Billerica Electric Company of Billerica. Walter A. Dicnker is president and Charles Cummings is secretary and treasurer. Capital is $20,000.
The annual Billerica town meeting convened at the town hall with about 100 voters present, many women and schoolchildren in attendance. Moderator Charles H. Kohlrausch Jr. was chosen, articles postponed for school matters, and officers elected including three selectmen and three assessors as ballots proceed.
