In Providence district court Judge Johnson declared Mrs Clara Valois probably not guilty of murdering her father John W Roessler at Scituate on November 7. After a lengthy session lasting until nearly 7 pm she was discharged from custody.
Manchester N H March 22 Considerable interest is shown in the coming sale at auction of Dr J C Moore s famous Laconia property the Halifax mills by the assignees Messrs Cole Leonard The sale will be held next Tuesday afternoon at 1 20 The mills are valuable in good condition and ready to start work immediately yarn is on the machines Competition per possession of the property will be active Dr Moore has been seriously ill at his Kennard rooms but is now much better.
Burlington Mass March 21 Silas Cutler longtime postmaster for years died yesterday at age 90 years 2 months He was born Templeton Mass Jan 3 1836 but moved to Burlington at age three Appointed postmaster in 1832 he served under Jackson Van Buren Harrison Tyler Polk Fillmore Pierce Buchanan Lincoln Johnson Grant Hayes and Garfield He resigned in 1581.
Lawrence March 22 The new Quaker meeting house on Avon street was dedicated this afternoon by Dr Trueblood of Boston secretary of the American Peace association. Pastors from several denominations attended and the Salvation Army was represented by Capt Whitfield. A historical address followed by remarks from invited clergymen.
In Boston on Friday last, under a Grand Trunk of Canada petition, Charles M Hayes and E C Smith were named receivers of Central Vermont for a claimed profit balance of 415 712 45 over four months. Ancillary state and federal actions set bonds at 60060 each and confirmed the appointment with proceeds staying under court jurisdiction.
Washington March 23. The U S Supreme Court today upheld a lower court ruling in Theodore F. Brown’s favor that he was not compelled to answer questions in the interstate commerce cases. The court’s decision reverses his challenge and confirms the requirement to testify.

Samuel T. Barnes 41, of 390 East Merrimack Street, died by suicide in his sleep after a day of pain and bandaged head.
