She gave two differing accounts about the incident at a dance, one claiming deliberate intent, the other saying she took the drug by mistake.

Frank H. Harlow a brakeman on the Boston and Maine road was caught between two cars while coupling in the yard this morning. He lost the thumb of his left hand and the first two fingers at the first joints. He was taken by ambulance to St John’s Hospital.
In this city on March 20 Matthew Cahill age 42 died at 148 Appleton street. March 21 David E Gilman aged 77 years 10 months 2 days died at No 148 Church street. Sophia Nickerson wife of William P Nickerson aged 56 died in Andover on March 21. Addie J Crow infant child of Lester and Catherine Crow died in this city on March 20 at Dutton street. Mrs Charlotte Lee widow of James Lee aged 83 died at No 189 Grand street.

W A Bartlett preached on God's call to America, urging protection for the weak, support for Cuba, and a united national stance against Spain. The talk praised McKinley and urged peace while prepared for war if needed.

Margaret Jackman of Ayer sues the Fitchburg railroad in superior civil court for heavy damages over the death of her husband James Jackman. He was struck by an engine on December 16, 1896, and injured before dying. The suit alleges negligence by railroad employees. the defense denies negligence. The case proceeds in court.
In Hadley court Judge Hadley swiftly disposed of 17 drunks in about 15 minutes. Clein BRB Cook, Mary FE Moran, and Mary McDonough each drew three months in jail. Samuel Dyer and William Welch paid 35 dollar fines, with Sunday drinkers also fined. Alexander McDonald, David La montagne, Ludger Camire, Hugh McAtte faced 10 dollar charges. Frank M Robitaille's case for emblem charge was continued. Ricker testified melting gold but short of return.
Mr George W Greene aged 70 died at his home on Shedd Street after a paralytic shock in May and bed confinement since October. He leaves a widow and daughter Ella C Greene a prominent artist. Mrs T J McClary of North Andover died at St Johns Hospital after surgical treatment. Mr David F E Gilman aged 77 died at 143 Church Street. He leaves a widow Sophia Nickerson and four sons and three daughters. Mrs Nickerson of Andover aged 56 died this morning leaving husband and six children.
The funeral from 11 Cottage street drew many locals and church members. Rev C E Fisher led a Universalist service with choir renditions of My Heavenly Home Abide With Me and The Lord's Prayer. Floral tributes and bearers included Deacon C M Langley John M Sprague and Marcella Greenwood. Burial was in Lowell cemetery. Also, the body of Frank McCartin from Savannah arrived Saturday and funeral was held yesterday at 2 30 PM.
From Dover street the undertaker J. F. Rogers led services for Gertrude Elizabeth Lawler a twin of Dr and Mrs William P Lawler who died Saturday at their Andover street home. Mrs Lawler illness caused private burial Saturday afternoon. Also noted were Fannie Long buried from Sacred Heart at 9 am bearers James Long John Gateley John Heanina Edward Dunn John McCaffrey George Clark. Lizzie Zueras infant daughter of Joseph and Aggie funeral held yesterday at Moloy warerooms. The late Josiah GG Peabody left his estate to his immediate heirs. Edward Hymes of Dover NH spent Sunday in this city with friends. Mrs John FP Quinn has gone to her old home in New York City for a month's visit. Mrs S G Todd of 10 Walden street returned from New York where she attended spring openings. Mr Charles Baren of Boston returned to Lowell to head a new accident bureau for the Lowell and Suburban company. Miss Flow-Rilla Mead entertained friends at 22 Stackpole street for her birthday. The double box at the Paris Opera formerly rented to Mrs Ayer is now held by Mime Denardaky for opera parties. The cotillion in Mechanics hall Saturday night pleased attendees. matrons were Mrs Julian Talbot and Mrs G Hi Pillsbury. American orchestra provided music. Page company catered. decorations honored St Patrick's Day. In New York a long list of names appeared at various venues.
