Eleven masked gunmen raided the Traction company power house in Waverly New York this morning. They bound workers and placed them in an empty car with ropes around their necks. Three safes were blown open and about $200 in cash was taken. No leads yet. officials believe professionals were behind the robbery.
Brisbane reports the search steamer from Cooktown on the Endeavor river found three schooners and 80 luggers lost with about 400 colored people among the casualties. The hurricane's terrible results have devastated the Queensland coast, with ships reported lost and crews missing.

John J Jennings, bagpipes player, was arrested by Officer Ryan.

The funeral of Hospital Steward Leslie F Huntting of the Fifth Massachusetts regiment was held at First Baptist church with a full regiment in attendance. A National flag shroud covered the casket as ministers Reverend E N House and Reverend C S Gardner led services and the Massachusetts male quartet provided music. The procession moved through Washington Street to the depot where Huntting’s body was placed on a Southern train for shipment to Boston for storage in a vault until the regiment’s muster out and a monument can be arranged.
Reserve Officer John F. Healey, wounded in the Tan ner street safe robbery, has shown rapid improvement at St Johns hospital. Doctors say he may sit up at midnight and expect extraction of remaining bullets. The piece also defends Lieut Palmer and officers who hunted Robert Vaughn, refuting earlier papers’ bravado claims.
