Dwyer, 41, a weaver, carried $46 and a Boston silver watch pawn ticket and was held on drunkenness with $200 bond. James Bruneau alias Stack and Crawford was stopped with lead pencils and amber pipe tips. no connection to a prior burglary was made. Supt. Davis detained all for further inquiry.
In police court Judge Hadley dismissed the assault case against John McCabe after Annie McCabe refused to testify against her husband citing it as his first offense. She promised to press the case on Wednesday. Other defendants, James Dowd and Thomas F Logue, were continued in $300 bail each until March 17 as the plaintiff did not appear. Archibald McDougal pleaded not guilty to larceny of $61, claiming hearing issues.
Bail set at 400 until March 16 as Dowd withdraws appeal after a two month workhouse sentence for vagabond status. Bruneau’s drunkenness sentence extends to Saturday. Five other drunks are disposed of: Grady 1, Trainor 1, Meunier 1, Davis 3, Dwyer held 200 until Tuesday.

Three year old John Nichols son of John J. Nichols of 3863 Lawrence street drowned in the Concord river yesterday around 5 pm near Taylor street bridge. Sister witnessed the slip on ice and the current carried him to an inlet where a twig caught him under the ice. Officers Clements and McKay found the body two hours later and, after a difficult rescue using a ladder, pulled the child onto the ice.
The national council meeting in New Haven elected officers after a two day session on amendments to the constitution. Edward J. Hearn was named supreme knight and others include Judge John W. Hogan as deputy supreme knight, Daniel Colwell as secretary, John M. Drury as treasurer, Dr. William T. McManus as physician, Matthew McNamara as warden, and James E. McConnell as advocate. Building a Catholic chapel at West Point was deferred and the next convention will be held in New Haven.

Michael Glennan editor of the Virginian Pilot in Norfolk died. he served in the Confederate army and was a postmaster in Cleveland's first term, survived by widow and five children. Mary Malen died at 30 leaving husband and three children. Edward J. Garrigan, youthful St Patrick’s Society member and Emerald baseball player, died at 24 leaving four sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services for Mrs. Susan Walsh of 5 Bents court were held at St Peter s church with Rev Fr McKenna celebrating mass and James E Donnelly directing the choir. Miss Louise J McLaughlin sang at offertory and “Passing Out of the Shadow” was sung by Donnelly. Nearer My God to Thee was sung as the body was moved to the hearse. Burial followed at the Catholic cemetery with bearers James Saunders John Tracey Michael Rafferty and Charles Marley and Undertaker Savage in charge.
