A landmark electr ic railroad consolidation completes Saturday with Lynn & Boston taking control of Wakefield & Stoneham Wakefield & Salem and Gloucester lines. Thomas Varnum of 476 Varnum Avenue was knocked unconscious and robbed of $20 in his home Saturday night. He awoke in the kitchen upstairs with a back head wound after what neighbors describe as a planned entry to the cellar. Police had not been informed and Mr. Varnum, 64, declines to speak.

Robert HM Day of Providence, brother of Mise Anne Day of Lowell high school and of Ges F Woodley, was killed by a railroad train in Chicago on Friday night. The report notes the fatal encounter occurred on the tracks near the city.
In Hudson on March 4 Hugh Reardon age 7 died after three boys crossed the Abbets river ice and fell through. Eddie 6 and Herbert 7 were rescued with help from George Wright and Dr. Cochran. Wright fainted from exhaustion. Hugh's body was swept downstream past the dam.
