Albert Jard of 88 French street employed by Boott corporation fell from a freight car this morning and sustained a severe hip injury requiring ambulance transport to Lowell hospital.
The Board of Health abolished the office of superintendent of the department yard. John F. Murphy ended his service with the department. The board approved notifying Murphy in writing of the passage of the vote. Murphy questioned, but said he would withdraw. He also proposed a crematory contract to reduce city refuse costs. The board planned chimney repairs, considered contract terms, and noted delays by Undertaker Albert on a diphtheria death. A hearing was set for Poirier on a barn distance dispute, and smallpox virus readiness was discussed.

Mr Henry H Bennett died at 10 15 this morning at No 15 Alder Street after seven years of illness paralysis final He was born March 21 1832 in Hamburg Germany and was the last surviving member of a large family He came to America at 17 worked in Chicago traveled widely during the war he served as General Butler s private secretary in New Orleans later became treasurer of Cape Ann Granite 1868 26 years He is survived by his wife and two daughters Miss Harriet Francis Bennett and Miss Elizabeth Francis Bennett Elizabeth a student at Wellesley Harriet living with mother at Alder Street

The funeral for Mrs Harriet Thornber was held yesterday at 2 30 PM from her 29 Bourne Street residence with Rev C W Huntington officiating. Bearers were Charles W Stott George Stott E G Walker and Richard Gumb. Miss Rutherford sang two selections. Burial followed in Edson Cemetery with J A Weinbeck in charge.

Louis A. Dane arrested by Inspector Ailen in Nashua on a larceny complaint for a five dollar youth suit from Talbot's clothing store. Two Nashua youths visited Talbot Clothing Co. One, Louis A. Dane, bought trousers while his companion stole a suit of youth clothing tied in a bundle. Dane was recognized by the clerk and arrested by a Nashua officer, then turned over to Inspector Allen in Lowell. The suit had been sold in Nashua for $1 and was recovered.
