Two Drownings in the Northern Canal in Cheever Street
Two drowning accidents occurred within an hour along the Northern Canal at Cheever Street Lowell. Seven year old Joseph Tellier fell in near Pawtucket Street and drowned. Ernest Mailloux, about 45, also drowned after attempting to reach the boy and being pulled under by ropes on a grappling iron. Mailloux lived at 132 Perkins Street, left a wife and seven children, and was a known rescuer in canal drownings.

Seven Negroes Lynched in Watkinsville Mob Action
