Mrs. Hannah Spencer a 74 year old widow died suddenly at her rooms No 86 East Merrimack Street Lowell Mass in the tenements of the Massachusetts corporation The death occurred about 7 80 this morning after a fall observed by Mrs Perry and attended by Drs Palmer and others The cause of death appears to be heart disease with possible hemorrhage The deceased was long a Lowell resident having lived there more than 30 years and was well known and respected Her adopted daughter Eva Spencer died in 1883 and her surviving relatives are nephews and nieces in Maine and one niece Mrs Noyes in Chicago

The boy choir from St. John’s Episcopal church will give a fine outing at the sea store following a well attended strawberry supper in the church vestry last night. An entertainment after the supper drew a favorable reception from attendees.
A German man named John Ebar who moved from Chicago to Lowell several weeks ago has vanished along with funds he possessed. His disappearance has left his wife and four children in poverty and suspense. Ebar rented a house near Lincoln square on Chelmsford street before his disappearance.
Michael Flynn, a justice of the peace at 18 Merrimack Square, was arrested by U S Marshals on pension fraud charges. A warrant is out for Ira D Cheney with similar accusations, and several other arrests are expected. Investigators cite 65 cases where vouchers were dated and sworn improperly and where witnesses were supplied by Flynn for widow’s pensions.
A Thursday night fete on the Butler grounds will feature a smoke talk and camp fire directed by W. Ki. J. Hayes starting at 7 30 PM. The program includes music by the National band, patriotic readings, War reminiscences, stereopticon views, and lectures on Gettysburg Manila Cuba and naval battles by local and Boston speakers.
Daniel Lane was jailed for three months and ten days after larceny of a dinner basket from Express Messenger William A. Taylor. Lane, not a first offender, appears in the rogues’ gallery. Albert H. Rogers faces $1200 bond for embezzlement from Estey piano company. Joseph Jennings and Rovart Beedy receive four months and Edgar F Wheeler three months for drunkenness and related charges. Several others paid light fines.

A lively crowd gathered last night to salute a 5 by 8 banner as it rose to the top of a 12 foot pole at the house of Mr N D Lafleur on Walker Street. Neighbors cheered during the ceremony.
Sixth Massachusetts Regiment returned to Camp Alger after a morning sham engagement at Dunn-Loring. Minor injuries occurred as blank rounds caused a wound to Priv. Harvey Reed and powder burns to officers. Missouri forces briefly blocked Sixth advance, then allowed passage after officers intervened. A later incident saw Missourians defend their lines, forcing the Sixth through with bayonets. A squad captured the Eighth Ohio colors. Lieut. Braxton received a sword from Reading veterans.
Bertha Kennedy alias Bertha Rodman alias Bertha Webster, wanted by Lowell police since 1894 for grand larceny, was released from Rhode Island state prison in Cranston after a three year term. Inspector Allen arrested her upon release and brought her to Lowell, where she is jailed. In 1894 she worked as a domestic at J Stuart Murphy’s Beacon Street home and stole a gold watch valued at 150 dollars and other jewelry, fleeing to avoid reprisal. She was arrested in Providence later that year and sentenced to three years. She is described as a seasoned criminal.
The Appleton National Bank is appointed by the U.S. Government as agent for selling Internal Revenue stamps. It will stock Schedule A stamps in cents and dollars including 2, 8, 4, 5, 10, 25 and 60 cents plus 1, 3, 85, 10 and 50 dollars. Schedule B offers Proprietary stamps in assorted small values. Albert C. Mitchell of Lowell and Viola S. Green were wed at the bride’s parents home in North Chelmsford by Rev. J M Greena. The ceremony drew 75 guests, with Edith Mitchell as bridesmaid and Arthur J. Woyt as best man. The couple will reside at 68 Gates Street, Lowell, before moving to North Chelmsford after September 1.
Alexander J. Fraser of Boston married Miss Nellie Veo daughter of Mr and Mrs Peter Veo in the French Congregational church with music by Miss Nattie J Shepard. A wedding breakfast followed at 259 Fletcher Street before the couple head to Dorchester for their home after September 1.
Samuel Smith and Ida Cohen wed at Highland Hall in a Hebrew ceremony led by Rabbi E. Wolf son. Attendants included An Nile Zinberg Bessie Cohen Bernard Zin berg and Samuel Cohen. Guests came from Boston Worcester. Seigleman's Boston orchestra played as the couple planned to live at 115 Howard Street.
Walter O. Swan and Miss Fugenia M. Mitchell united in marriage Tuesday afternoon at the bride’s parents’ home on Main street Bradford. Rev J O Kingsbury officiated. Flower girl Miss Florence A Mitchell attended. Lowell friends at the reception included Mr and Mrs A B Horn, Mr Samuel Horn, Miss Jon Churchill, Miss Bessie Hamilton and Mr and Mrs Frederick. The American orchestra of Lowell provided music.
Mr Frank Cassidy of Middlesex and Miss Margaret O Neil were united in marriage last night at the parish house of the Immaculate Conception church. Rev John P Reynolds conducted the ceremony. Best man James Brawley and bridesmaid Mary O Neil attended. A reception followed at 51 Willow Street with many friendly congratulations.
John J. OConnor and Mary Moriarty were married this morning at the parish house of Immaculate Conception church. Rev. Fr. Lawrence O.M.L. officiated. A reception for friends followed at 155 Stackpole Street.
Funeral services were at St. Patrick's Church with Rev Fr McHugh presiding. The choir conducted by B F Faulkner sang. bearers included Benjamin Preston and Patrick Morris. Interment followed at the Catholic cemetery under Undertaker O'Donnell. The Moran funeral followed later that day.
Catherine V Donnelly was laid out after services at Immaculate Conception church and sent to Cleveland by Undertaker Davey for burial. Her funeral Mass at St Patrick’s was a solemn requiem attended by bearers Joseph McCann Thomas McCann John Teague and Edward McCarney. A Immaculate Conception School graduate four years ago she belonged to the Children of Mary sodality and was dearly loved by all who knew her.
Delia Cleary died Tuesday morning at her home at 104 Cross Street aged 28. She was a member of Spin dle City Council and Companions of the Forest.
The week brings a marriage intention for Mr John Murra and Miss Margaret Kelly. Ida Marie Rogers enjoys success with baby songs at Keith's theatre in Boston. Clara Bates appears as a strong candidate for High School admission. Benjamin Holt and family plan a summer stay at The Lowell in Beachwood Maine, leaving Saturday for the season. Col L M Heery and wife depart for Peterson New Jersey for a Telephone Co meeting. Edward F Anderson and Jas Wilson depart with wives for three months in England Scotland and Ireland aboard the Dominion liner Canada. Capt Prouty comments on the Harmony Grove drowning, noting he did not refuse a boat to Clifton Wilson who died. T P James visits Lowell, previously of the Propeller job printing office, now living in Boston.
