Shoe firm Lamkin and Foster placed in receivership
In Boston Judge Lowell appointed Charles W. Lavers of Somerville temporary receiver for the wholesale shoe firm Lamkin and Foster after an involuntary bankruptcy petition by Henry E. Guptill. Assets about 5100,000 less than liabilities near 600,000. Creditors include United States Rubber Co with 150,600 claims and notes totaling about 100,000 held by two Boston banks. The loss is blamed on rapid trade changes that reduced demand and eliminated the robbing house from the trade.
