Mrs. Mary Devany died at her sister’s home on Worthen Street after three weeks of rheumatic fever. A native of County Sligo, Ireland, she lived in Lowell for over 25 years and was active in St Patrick’s church and the Holy Family sodality. Also noted are the death of Mrs Eliza A. Davis in Billerica after leaving Lowell thirty years ago, and memorial details for Charlie Welch known as Blind Charlie, plus the death of Mr John H Haggett at 186 Charles Street.
A M Campbell of Idaho, who left the republican convention with Teller, is in Chicago. He declares his move was required by circumstances and asserts the silver states will support it.
Chicago report states 44 year old attorney David O'Brien committed suicide by turning on gas in his office during the night. He left letters to his wife and family. O'Brien was known as a brilliant lawyer and had a history of heavy drinking.
New York June 20 George H Wyckoff president of the New Amsterdam bank who was shot by a crank Monday is reported sinking rapidly.
By the will of Mrs. Patrick Murphy of Amesbury the Hampton summer residence is given to Bishop Bradley of Manchester for Catholic church purposes. In Boston, Frank Gibbs found the dead body of Alfred J. Bailey, 22, crushed between the elevator and a beam on the third floor at North Packing Company.
In the heat a fair-sized audience heard Miss S J Clark of Manchester New Hampshire share her straightforward tale of the Lord's dealings. Her singing delighted the listeners as Mrs M W Richardson aged 80 of Amherst NH led opening prayer. Miss Clark stays until Tuesday with Sunday services at 3 and 7 pm hoping for larger attendance.
The funeral of Annie T Reardon from 49 Fenwick street proceeded yesterday at 2 PM with Rev Fr Burke at the grave in the Catholic cemetery. Undertaker O'Donnell assisted. Margaret Canfield aged 39 died at St John’s hospital and was buried yesterday at 4 PM in the Catholic cemetery with Undertaker Davey directing.

Mary Martin of Middlesex street was taken to St John’s hospital this morning after cutting her foot on a broken cup.
A crowded vestry at First Congregational church in Lowell witnessed a bitter clash between Kenngott and anti Kenngott factions over incorporating as First Trinitarian Congregational church. The vote, chaired by O A Brigham, produced 270 to 193 in favor for Murphy and against Cutler, with non resident members disputed and protests filed by Carter and others. Clerks and officers were elected, including Graves as clerk and Murphy as moderator, while changes to by laws were adopted after a walkout by opponents.
The Green school closes its term at the high school hall on Wednesday morning, June 24, at 9 o clock. Dr. Mary A. Livermore of Melrose will give an address and the High Street church quartet will provide music. The program is public with no admission tickets and invites the public to attend.
At a Spinners union meeting last night a misunderstanding with an overseer caused talk of a strike among mule spinners in a Boott mills room. The workers were back at work this morning as the matter was amicably settled.
Graduation exercises were held in the town hall before a large audience. Diplomas were awarded to Florence May Winship, Abbie Blanche Butterfield, Hannah Hoye Sleeper, Viola Lydia Greene, Charles Addison Leroy Dane, and Walter Newton Marinel. Speakers included Hannah Sleeper on Duty, Walter Marinel on The New Woman, Viola Greene on Success in Life, Charles Dane on Statues and Their Symbols, and Abbie Butterfield on Criticism and Sarcasm. The program featured quartettes, overtures, and a valedictory by Winship.
Chelmsford Centre High School held graduation exercises with a mock trial, jury of eighth graders, and a program of preludes, essays, prophecies, and songs led by students. Dignitaries awarded diplomas to Mary F. Devine East Chelmsford, Charles Holt, Ralph Stevens, Leslie Davis, and Bernard Byam. Primary pupils delivered a lively program under Miss Wheeler, who ends her term. Intermediate workouts showcased Miss Clark's thorough school methods.
A London despatch dated the 19th reports the international fire brigade tournament opening at Royal Agricultural Hall. Chiefs Hosmer of Massachusetts and Eton of Hartford led US representatives along with delegates from New York Illinois Michigan and Florida. Capt Simonds of London gave a welcome, and Canadian team Benoit Stevenson drew applause. Benoit praised reception and noted British ladder work lags Canada.
Nearly 500 children received their first communion at St Josephs church this morning. Mass at 8 a.m. was led by Rev A A Amyot O M I. Girls numbered 240 were served by Rev Fr Paquette and 212 boys by Rev Fr Frigon.

A matinee at Lakeview Theatre plays today at 3 PM featuring Miss Pollie Holmes in a farewell appearance with her popular songs. She and fellow stars Joe Flynn Olaf Hayden Thomson Brunnell Hayden and Hetherton conclude their engagements this evening as a strong closing bill. Next week a splendid bill is announced.
