St. Louis defeated Boston 5 to 0 as Breitenstein pitched a fine game allowing only three hits and none to the outfield. Only one Boston runner reached third base and two reached second. St. Louis had 11 hits and 1 error while Boston had 3 hits and 1 error.
Chicago dispatch reports James Creelman, exiled New York World correspondent, predicts war between the United States and Cuba. He says Spain desires conflict and the U S would be shocked by state department disclosures. Creelman cites $25,000,000 in American property destroyed and American lives lost as motive.
Baseball score report notes Baltimore led 38 to 1 against Louisville when play was halted in the third inning due to rain. Other games Philadelphia 9 Cleveland 1 and New York 7 Cincinnati 4 proceeded with result, while Washington vs Chicago was postponed by rain.
The secretary of the treasury ordered Captain Healy, late commander of the revenue cutter Bear, to the foot of the revenue marine list. He will be suspended from duty, placed on waiting orders for four years, and reprimanded on all vessels with a warning that further drunkenness will lead to dismissal.
Providence beats Syracuse 7 to 2 while Springfield defeats Rochester 14 to 5. Rochester wins 6 to 3 against Springfield in a second game. Wilkes Barre shuts out Buffalo 11 to 0 as Scranton tops Toronto 15 to 6.
Framingham June 10 James A Woodbury of Hopkinton member of the Massachusetts legislature from the 22d Middlesex district lost his right leg when hit by wheels while boarding a train. He was rushed to Emergency hospital and prospects for recovery are reported favorable.
Nashua New Hampshire June 10 Reverend William H Eaton D D prominent Baptist clergyman in New England died at his home this morning aged 78. He had resided in Nashua for 14 years and was highly regarded in religious circles.
Ben Mulford Jr of the Cincinnati Post urges NL leaders to convene in Chicago during the league meeting in November to draft a uniform scoring code. Jud Smith of Toronto will join Pittsburg to replace Lyons, who is injured.
J. G. and J. M. Delgad reached New York from Havana and will proceed to Washington to present Secretary Olney with their Cuba grievances and observations on the situation there.
London reports that Mrs. Annie Dyer, the baby farmer convicted of murdering a large family, was hanged at Newgate prison this morning.
Alonzo Way a retired merchant tailor who settled in Haverhill forty years ago died at his home this morning aged 68 His long service in the local trade and his residence here are noted in the obituary with brief details of his career and age.
The Legislature was prorogued today at 12.20 local time in Boston as sessions concluded for the term. No further business was noted and members adjourned peacefully.
Robert Laycock, 50, was moved to Boston yesterday by Special Officer Gilmore. He is sought for allegedly stealing 375 dollars from Carrie A. Clark of 9 Stamford Street on May 16. The pair were engaged to be married and Laycock allegedly borrowed the money for housekeeping purchases before disappearing.
At the First Unitarian church the North Middlesex conference of Unitarian and other Christian churches will be held tomorrow. Speakers include Rev. C. T. Billings George L. Hooper D M Wilson of Lowell Mrs Emily Fifield of Boston Rev Joseph Allen Rev Samuel M Crothers of Cambridge and Rev Enoch Powell of Nashua.

Joseph Worthen convicted of assault on Officer Breen. fined $20 plus $10 for drunkenness, appeal noted. John Dugan stole two fish while drunk. cut officer Whitworth during arrest. Dugan given larceny three months, assault five months, drunkenness one month. Sentences to be served in jail. John Buckley sentenced seven months for drunkenness and assault.
