In St Louis a morning street brawl between Andrew Smith and Peter Peterson, called the terrible Swede, left bystander J Hickey dead. Smith says Peterson assaulted him and he fired, missing Peterson. Peterson escaped, Smith was arrested.
Miss Eliza McMullen left Lowell on May 11 heading to Little Metis Quebec to visit ill stepmother. Baggage checked 26048 and 24354 sent beyond Boston and Maine road then routed back to Levis Quebec where claimed and surrendered. She is believed to be in Levis awaiting word.
Francis H. Swope presents 1314 acres to Kansas City with conditions that the land remain a park and the city spend 5000 dollars annually for maintenance. The announcement notes Swope as one of the city's oldest residents and sets the framework for ongoing park upkeep.

Helena Mont June 8 A movement is under way to delay the execution of Bill Gray who has been convicted of murder. Local supporters seek to halt the scheduled hanging and urge reconsideration of his case.
In this city on June 7 at 195 Wilder Street Anna May daughter of Merton and Nancy J Amy aged 2 years 11 months 4 days. Funeral service at the parents home tomorrow at 2 PM. Friends invited. The Lowell Rod and Gun club to continue. Dr Irish returned yesterday from a three week trip through the west and south.
Dr. Irish examined the body of John Madden who died at Fox's farm yesterday at noon. Heart disease caused the death. Madden was brother in law to Inspector Burke of the Boston police who is likely to attend the funeral tomorrow morning at St Michael's Church.

O Sullivan, once a free lance delegate, is seen as a disruptor who has challenged local machines and could shift support away from ex Mayor Fifield and Knox ally factions. The state committee is expected to intervene as party loyalties realign under this candidacy.
From the Pacific Coast Col and Mrs Harrison Gray Otis of Los Angeles visited friends at 284 Sayles street and renewed old ties as Mrs Otis, born in New Hampshire, stayed behind. The colonel left this afternoon for St Louis to attend the convention. Otis edits the Los Angeles Times and backs McKinley. he also advocates a Los Angeles harbor and served on a commission promoting it. Mrs Otis will remain for a time and join her husband later in the west.
An Eliot church based aid report lists 48 adults 13 children 35 transient 5 lodging and meals furnished 10 with no serious illness. Three children have been placed in private homes for adoption. Calls total 135. Donations came from numerous individuals including Mrs Burke Miss Kitson Mrs Perkins Mrs Smith Mrs Pen niman Mrs Battles Mrs Burnham Miss Kitson and local societies and companies such as Lowell Ice Company D L Page Company Nichols & Co Grace Universalist Society and Grace Universalist Society per Miss Earl.
Officer Tilton arrested George E. Stevens in Lewiston on a warrant for disposing of mortgaged property from a year ago. Stevens admits irregularity and seeks time to arrange matter. He was taken to Lewiston.
About sixty Lawrence Knights traveled to Lowell by special car. After an afternoon in Associate hall they held a banquet at the Merrimack house. More hospitality followed at the hall before the visitors departed at a seasonable hour.
Rev W E Waterbury of Clinton Massachusetts will lecture before the Pastor's Aid Society of the Fifth Street Baptist church on Tuesday evening. The subject is The Schooling of Israel in Egypt and other city young peoples societies have been invited, with expectations of a large attendance.
Mr E D Shadduck intends to begin a two months journey at month’s end visiting Portland Maine and New York before sailing to London and then to Paris and various places in France Switzerland Germany and Holland. Much of the trip will be by bicycle.
