Police in Riga seized fifty bombs at the Phoenix foundry in St. Petersburg reporting a bomb factory operation. Officers also took revolvers daggers and other arms, and several detainees resisted before surrendering in a tense clash.
James Hazen Hyde resigns as director from the Frick-Mellon banking institutions in Pittsburgh. The Mellon National Bank and Union Trust Company boards accepted his resignation yesterday. The move follows H. C. Frick’s statement that he would not sit on any board with Hyde as a member.
Rutland Vermont June 6 Attorney T W Moloney prepared the writ of error for Mrs Mary M Rogers convicted of murdering her husband. He plans to present it to Justice Rufus W Peckham of the U S Supreme Court and may travel to Altamont New York where Peckham currently resides tomorrow.
Toledo Ohio June 6 The Masonic temple in this city the most elaborate building of its kind in the country erected and furnished at a cost of 425000 was dedicated today in the presence of a large number of officers and members of the order from all parts of the country and Canada.
The New England Christian convention held its 58th annual session in Court Street church Portsmouth on June 6. L. W. Phillips chaplain of the state house presided while the opening session covered routine business and featured N. T. Morrill speaking on Social Aspects of Churches.

Employers stated they would not settle unless every firm was included. The Teamsters hoped their move would act as an entering wedge, paving the way for broader negotiations.
New York June 6 A J Cassatt president of the Pennsylvania railroad resigns from the Equitable Life Assurance Society board. W H McIntyre examined by state insurance officials amid Hyde related disclosures. Hyde defends resignations while Krech Winthrop also questioned. Hyde may resign from Union Pacific and Oregon Railway boards of Harriman properties.
Detroit reports say a late day rain and wind storm swept across southern Michigan, the most severe in years. The Pere Marquette line reported 30 washouts while Grand Trunk logged 11. three bridges on the Grand Trunk were washed out in Ottawa county. Earlier reports of deaths in Sanilac and Tuscola accompany widespread property damage statewide.
The Traite academy in Portsmouth dedicated today funded by Oliver Traite's estate. Principal address by W W Stetson Maine State Superintendent. Author William Dean Howells attended as guest of honor. The college fitting school will cost about $60,000 to erect with a maintenance fund from the will.
In Canaan New Hampshire on June 6 Frank Tobine a Braley farmhand was arrested on an assault charge after allegedly saying he would put August Braley where the baby was. Authorities pursue leads about the missing Braley child as Tobine claims he may have dreamed his statements.
