Boston July 8 Herbert Hill killed his sister Alice at the Roxbury home and then wounded his mother who tried to shield her. He fled and was last seen heading toward Franklin Park as police surrounded the area. Neighbors say Hill had been acting queerly and may be insane.
In police court Judge Pickman admonished Greek defendants after assault cases linked to Merrimack mill strikes. He fined George Pappadopoulos and Costas Phrhames $10 each as seven others had cases filed. A separate tale recounted Adelard Vancousée and Alfred Trembly’s night incident ending in jail terms for drunkenness and larceny.
New York dispatch reports the battleship Illinois, Admiral Crowninshield's flagship, will depart Gravesend on Friday bound for St Petersburg per a Herald London correspondent. The vessel has attracted crowds on the Thames with vast fleets of ships and cheering spectators aboard.

Chicago July 8 After a long meeting the Railway Clerks union decided not to aid the striking freight handlers in any way. A deputation of strikers asked for assistance but the clerks refused after a lengthy debate. Sympathy was not offered.
London July 8 bulletin reports the King Edward is progressing well. Post at 10 o'clock this morning says the King's condition remains favorable and all signs point to continued improvement.

The upper floors occupied by Bloom’s Woolen Manufactory suffered heavy damage, with Freeman’s National Bank below also damaged by water.
