London July 5 bulletin from Buckingham Palace reports King Edward had another excellent night, remains cheerful and stronger. Officials state he is now out of danger and evening bulletins will be discontinued.
William Caldwell brought from Phoenix Arizona by Deputy Welch and Inspector Laflamme faced Judge Pickman in Lowell police court on forgery charges and was held to bonds of 1200 for the grand jury. The case recites a May 3 trip to Lowell and a 500 check for a fictitious Everett Thompson book later used to obtain 200 more from broker Adams before the check was protested.
Seventeen riders arrived in Hartford from Boston for the Metropole Cycle club event and began the second day toward New York City. The route passes through New Britain Meriden New Haven Bridgeport Stamford Greenwich Port Chester New Rochelle and Fordham before finishing at club headquarters. Riders include Haselfinger Holley Hendee Sherman Pickard Burnham Tuttle O Malley Bernard Russell and others from New York Bradford Waltham Brockton and Boston.
The Hague July 5. Testimony by Dr. Asser, Dutch arbitrator in the American Russian sealing dispute, closed with a Washington statement by Herbert H. D. Peirce outlining U S territory waters. The delegates exchanged compliments and Dr Asser praised the admirable example set by the two nations in arbitration.

A lamp toppled during a dance at the Half Way House in Pittsburg New Hampshire sparked a blaze that destroyed the building. About twelve guests were severely burned but are expected to recover. Owner A W Butterfield reported no total loss estimate.
Harry Tracy, an escaped convict, killed Officer E. E. Breese and wounded Neil Rawley after already killing Deputy Sheriff Charles Raymond and fatally wounding Deputy Sheriff John Williams. A letter from Lieut Gamble of the revenue cutter Thetis reports efforts to locate the steamers Portland and Jeannie. The Thetis was at Nome on June 23 preparing to head toward the merchant fleet region. They are searching for the lost vessels in Arctic ice, planning to move toward Point Barrow if not found, amid heavy ice and a late season.
Miss Ruth Underhill, 1899 American golf champion for women, led a Burlingame Country club event in Northern California yesterday. Competing with Mrs. R. Gilman Brown and Mrs. Laurence I. Scott, she captured the Poniatowski cup, highlighting her status as a top regional player.
Three people died and over 100 were hurt in Chicago during the Fourth of July celebration. Fatal wounds came from firearms, with 22 additional gunshot injuries and stray bullets reported.

Americans in Havana and across the island marked the Fourth with displays of patriotism hampered only by an order from the mayor delaying fireworks. The American club hosted a reception attended by Havana’s elite and the full American legation. Cuban congressmen and officials joined, with the President sending regrets. Roosevelt’s speech was cheered, and the event closed with Dixie and the star spangled banner.
The Denver Limited on the Chicago Rock Island and Pacific line was robbed near Dupont Illinois by two masked men. United States express messenger James B. Kain was fatally shot. Robbers took about $10,000 in jewelry from passengers. the safe, containing about $125,000, could not be uncoupled, ending their attempt after a melee with passengers.

Scholes the Canadian oarsman covers half the course in 4 minutes 9 seconds against 4 minutes 1 second by F S Kelley of Oxford. The Canadian Argonaut crew finishes full course in 7 minutes 6 seconds. The Leander crew rows half the course in 3 minutes 23 seconds.
New York police report 125 fireworks related accidents in 24 hours as Independence Day celebrations sprawl through the city. Roosevelt Hospital says 147 cases treated there. stray bullets injure three people, with fears of death in several serious injuries.
Port au Prince Hafyti July 5 M Delinois won the first deputy seat for Port au Prince by a plurality of 800 from 12000 votes. After the result, an attack on the arsenal by the opposing party occurred, causing injuries on both sides. Voting chaos delays quorum and the chamber of deputies formation amid unrest.

A Mountain Lake electric railway wreck near Gloversville and Utica, New York, last night left ten dead and about 50 injured. A runaway baggage and passenger car tore down the mountain, colliding with a following open car and overturning. Rescue teams faced a two hour delay before relief could begin, with many victims crushed or suffocated.
