United States secret service officers captured a gang at the residence of Mrs. Dr. Matilda A. Walter in St. Louis. Detained were Mrs. Walter, Ralph and Walter Creese photographers, W. J. Jennett, Mrs. Walter's father, and Adam Miller. The group possessed photographic reproductions of twenty billion copper plates and other engraving and printing gear.
Harriet Beecher Stowe's funeral is set for tomorrow in Andover with Prof. Smyth leading services at the seminary chapel. Burial will be in a private Phillips academy cemetery lot beside her husband and son. bearers include Professors Moore and Churchill, Rev Dr Bancroft, and Dr Selah Merrill.

Syracuse July 1 Letter Carrier Smith left Chicago Sunday at 9 pm for the Chicago New York bicycle road record. He arrived Buffalo at 9 34 am seven hours two minutes ahead of the old best and over three hours ahead of his schedule. He reached Rochester at 6 22 this evening.
Despatch from La Paz reports a revolution in Sucre, the Bolivian capital until 1869, but no details are available yet. Lima and Galveston relay the information dated July 2.

Mrs Nellie Jordan aged 28 was found dead this morning after taking carbolic acid to commit suicide. Her three year old son slept beside her and ill health was given as the cause.
Owen Gallagher a 45 year old freight brakeman was struck from his train and killed at Hast street bridge New Haven Conn at 6 o clock this morning He was unmarried.

Joseph Hallenmager, an elderly resident near Knox in Starke County, was tortured by two masked robbers demanding money. After heating tongs in a fire and applying them to his body, he lost consciousness and died the next morning. His wife, aged in her 70s and crippled, witnessed the ordeal. No clue to the attackers.

The diamonds lay in Morton Bliss vaults and were released by customs after thieves were convicted. Burden seeks the ten missing stones with a detective agency at work. If not found he may not pay the reward offered. There is suspicion Turner hid them in England before Dunlop arrived. Scotland Yard may locate them with effort. Burden recently spoke with Dunlop and Turner and met a detective at the Tombs after a long talk with Turner.
Italian immigrant Michael Tailero, 50, stabbed his wife Maria five times in the back in Bristol, Rhode Island, at 5 50 pm. He fled but was pursued for about 45 minutes before capture and turned over to police. The victim likely will die. motive not given.
Benjamin Huff of Bootjack Indiana shot and killed his daughter in law Cora Huff as she washed dishes then killed himself. Huff a 58 year old veteran was described as eccentric and had threatened suicide and harming his wife. Cora Huff lay paralyzed and expected to die. Huff left a widow and four children.
New York July 1 a new claimant to the late A T Stewart estate, Augusta Macesco of Bucharest, Roumania, appeared with birth and marriage certificates. Counsel Robert Noah said proof that James was Alexander I's brother was lacking. Former Judge Horace Russell dismissed her as a crank, noting Stewart had no brother James. A rival claimant, Mary Mathilde Stewart of Rue Delhay, Ariche, France, says she is an illegitimate daughter and sought Hilton's help for a share. Macesco planned to depart for France likely Saturday.
