San Jose California January 6 Professor Perrine of Lick Observatory reports the discovery of a sixth satellite of Jupiter using the Crossley reflector. The new body, about the fourteenth magnitude, was seen west of Jupiter and shows nightly position changes. It is confirmed to orbit Jupiter though its orbit is not yet determined. The satellite lies five to six times farther than the outermost known moon and may have a period of six to eight months. The four bright satellites trace back to Galileo in 1610 and the fifth to Barnard in 1892. The sixth satellite shares similar faint brightness with the fifth.
