Funeral Service for Miss Sarah F. Kittredge Held

Funeral services for Miss Sarah F. Kittredge, who died in the Burbank block fire, were held at 8:30 this morning at Horace Ela & Son's rooms with Rev W Huntington presiding. Floral tributes included a wreath from friends and a roses bouquet from Mrs C H Hill and Mrs Field. the body was sent to Mont Vernon New Hampshire for burial as demolition of the ruined structure continues.

This morning Mr Shattuck and Mr Kelley removed movable goods from Miss Kittredges room including books a box of goods a bureau a desk a table her hand bag and dishes. The items were taken to Shattucks store to await word from her brother in Mont Vernon or sister in Antrim New Hampshire regarding disposition.

Trains Wrecked by Landslides Kill One Engineer and Five Crew

A fast Chattanooga to Salisbury passenger train was wrecked near Elmnor City Tennessee by two landslides. Six people died including engineer John P. Bibb and a baggage master, mail clerk, negro porter, a lady passenger from Texas, and another listed crew member. The rear Cincinnati Southern train helped rescue two sleepers from fire. The wreck occurred on a steep embankment as the locomotive plunged, with the track later struck by a large boulder. The line may be cleared by noon. Bibb refused whiskey, saying he would die and urging care for women and children in the coaches.

Red Bank Woman Survives Apparent Death During Parade

Edith Curzon of Red Bank New Jersey was thought dead after pneumonia from a cold caught during a Washingtons Birthday parade. An undertaker prepared a body when a twitching eyelid and moved arm revived the patient. She is improving with recovery chances today.

Westboro. Feb 28. After leaving his wife in good spirits at noon William C. Sproul found her dead by suicide two hours later. A note stated nerves drove her to take her life despite happiness with her husband. A dish of Paris green was found on the kitchen table. Medical Examiner Knight determined death occurred hours earlier. The couple had no children and Mrs Sproul, from Waldoboro Me, had three sisters there. Funeral arrangements await word from Waldoboro.

New York reports strong progress toward a monument for the prison ship martyrs of the Revolution. The project aims to cost 200000 with 19000 subscribed. Congress and New York state plus the city have pledged 175000. Prisoners in hulks along East River near the Brooklyn navy yard included 4000 of Washington’s soldiers after Long Island.

Beatrice Hoye Case Highlights Bigamy Prosecution

In police court this morning Walter Donohue also known as Walter Williams faced a bigamy charge with Beatrice Hoye as alleged second wife. Testimony showed Donohue had married Hoye and Donohue’s first wife, Mrs Donohue, testified of long neglect and partial support, while Hoye refused to testify. Judge Hadley found probable cause for guilt and bound Donohue over to the June grand jury. other defendants faced various penalties for drunkenness.
