Impressive funeral of Rev Fr Fournier in Lowell Mass
The funeral of Rev Fr Joseph Alexandre Fournier OML rector of St Joseph's church was held with grand ceremony. The service began at St Jean Baptiste's at 7 am then moved to St Joseph's for a solemn high mass. Delegates from nine sodalities and orders attended, with 17 carriages in the cortege. The church and altars were richly lit and draped. The procession and committal continued to the cemetery with extensive clergy presence from multiple cities.

Narrow Escape From Coal Gas At 389 Stackpole Street
Mr Seraphim Clement and wife Sophie were overcome by coal gas after a closed damper caused gas to fill their bedroom. Their son and daughter aided, an ambulance arrived, and at St Johns hospital physicians treated them for about 80 minutes. By noon both showed signs of recovery though not fully conscious.

Bridgeport Deaths Attributed To Coal Gas In Furnace
Bridgeport Connecticut February 19 coal gas from a furnace is believed to have caused the deaths of Joseph B Canfield 35 superintendent of the Canfield Rubber company and his Swedish maidservant. Their bodies were found in their rooms at 840 Colorado avenue after Mrs Canfield phoned a neighbor for help. Police say the deaths may have been caused by coal gas rather than poison and that Mrs Canfield suffered gas inhalation and could not speak clearly. The couple had returned from New York Wednesday night and it is thought Canfield rekindled the fire in the hot air furnace. All draughts were closed and a pipe vent lid fell to block the chimney letting gas into the hot air pipes. Two dogs were partially conscious on the kitchen floor and there was milk and papers left untouched for two days. Canfield was the son of H O Canfield a wealthy manufacturer and owner of the Canfield Rubber company. He was 35. the servant girl’s name was not released. Mr and Mrs H C Canfield staying at Magnolia Spring Florida were notified.

Fire consumes South Boston five story block injuring forty families
A February fire at the corner of West First and Colton streets, South Boston, caused about 100000 in losses. The National Magazine occupied the third floor and Carter Rice & Co. the fourth, with Chapple Press and other firms damaged by water. Forty Polish families were ordered from nearby tenements but all escaped safely as water supply was hampered by frozen hydrants. Firefighters from across the city battled the flames for two hours, keeping the fire contained to the building. Insurance covered all losses.
