The child pupils of Miss Adelaide Noyes gave a dress lesson Saturday at her rooms in the Swan building. Attendance was very large and the programme excellent. She announced that the next term would begin on Saturday February 22.
After a week of work the Merrimack print yard closed again from Saturday noon to Monday morning. An veteran operator said in thirteen years he had never seen such slack in the print yard before.
Supt Davis and Dep Supt McQuads with police inspectors attend the Criminal court at Cambridge today. Webster resumes duty after a brief absence. Governor Greenhalge, slightly indisposed at home, was visited yesterday by Adjutant General Dalton Attorney Gen Champlin Col Parker and Col Kelley of his staff.
By Associated Press a serious blaze at the New York and Peston Despatch Co office in the Kneeland Street freight shed of the N Y N H & H depot Boston February 17 9 80 am started by a stove upset. The fire spread rapidly and the shed and lower train shed were gutted. Twelve passenger coaches damaged three destroyed. Loss about 35000 insured. Winds fanned the flames. Fireman and messenger James Ayer aged 19 was badly burned.

Salem, February 17 Capt John Allen of Manchester appeared in court charged with embezzling 90000 dollars He pleaded not guilty and was held in default of 20000 bonds The defendant is accused of misappropriating 70000 of funds of Arthur and Joseph F Roberts as their trustee and taking 20600 of Henry Roberts estate as trustee
A schooner Majestic from Rockland to Salem struck a ledge in Biddeford Pool at 3 AM during a heavy gale. The crew was rescued with difficulty by the life-saving corps as the vessel sank shortly after going over the ledge.
Louisville February 17. Robert Laughlin killed and cremated his wife and niece in Augusta yesterday. He was arrested.
The schooner Gerty Winsor from the Banks went ashore a mile east of Race Point during a heavy north easterly gale. The vessel shows no serious damage and the crew was rescued.
A blaze at the P. C. Thompson soap factory on Swanson street and Washington avenue in Philadelphia destroyed the plant this morning. Loss to the structure and contents is reported at 3.2 million dollars, leaving over 150 workers without jobs.
In Zanesville Ohio on February 16 Howard Boring shot and instantly killed his father, mistaking him for a burglary suspect during a night incident at their Crooksville home. Local authorities investigated the tragic case.
A noon fire alarm from box 41 signaled a blaze at the house of Hon. George F. Richardson at the corner of Mansor and Nesmith streets. The fire started in a coal bin in the cellar and was extinguished without trouble. Damage was slight and insured by H. C. Church and Son.

No hearing date set and both sides consent to delay to file an answer and seek possible amicable settlement within about two weeks. Kenn gott’s lawyer contends the lease may be invalid or taxable if legal.

He jumps through a second story window to escape, breaks an ankle, is taken to St. Johns Hospital by ambulance. Firemen remove the coat remains. window sash will be repaired.
