Two Wen Killed On An Engine
Utica N Y Feb 4 One of the strangest wrecks in railroading history occurred at Whitesboro three miles west of Utica. Train No 23 the western express collided with Train No 30 the Buffalo special after an engine exploded. Two railroad men the engineer and fireman on the westbound locomotive were killed. Despite fears no passenger died or was fatally injured and injuries were few. Rescue efforts in freezing cold conditions saved many lives and several injured were taken to Whitesboro sanitarium. Sidney J West and D D Lusk of Randolph were among the injured.
