Newton December 31 The Tarbox chief of police hearing resumed amid a crowd. Henry Ross, a West Newton contractor, criticized Patrolman McAleer as lazy. Carl Chandler described a 1901 Boston street fight Tarbox reportedly figured in. The witness said the article captured the affair better than memory.

The Kings County grand jury issued a presentment urging the Brooklyn Rapid Transit company to upgrade surface and elevated railroad facilities in Brooklyn. It also recommends the attorney general move to annul the charters of the BRT constituent companies to advance these improvements.
Vienna reports a December 31 imperial decree under article XIV of the emergency clause authorizes a provisional budget through June 30, 1930. The measure directs funding for government operations during the interim period.

London reports Geo Chapman is arraigned on additional charges of murdering his first and second wives after autopsies of their exhumed remains indicated poisoning. London police remand Carlose the valet of jockey Tod Sloan on larceny charges. He allegedly stole Sloan's diamond sleeve links valued at 425 dollars, a dress suit, and other items. Sloan requested to go abroad and was bound over for trial.

Census shows 311,016 horsepower in 1900 with large additions. by 1904 Canadian builds and U S plants total hundreds of thousands of horsepower. William Gale charged with assault with a knife on Frank Mullen during a Dec 27 incident. Gale was held in $500 bail and the case sent to the grand jury after evidence presented in police court. Denault woman charged with drunkenness discharged. Mullen sustained facial wounds. witnesses described a street struggle and a knife used by Gale.
A quiet double wedding was held at noon at St. John’s Church with Miss Caroline Davis marrying Mr. Henry Holmes and Miss Barbara Davis marrying Mr. Edward Prescott. Both brides were given away by their father William H. Davis. Attendants included Miss Margaret Williamson and Miss Jane Hardman, with best men Frank Webb and William Davis. The couples plan to depart on the 9.30 train for their new home in New Jersey.

While safety is not seen as at risk, Americans Walliver of Minneapolis and Reed of Kansas City reportedly traveled from Mequinez to Fez after recent trouble.
