Brimming with local color, the ceremony joined Miss Anna F. Berry daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J Warren Berry and Arthur W. Smith professor of physics and electrical engineering at Tulane University New Orleans. The event at the bride's East Chestnut and Whittier street home drew 190 guests with a reception for over 200 before the couple departed for New Orleans.
Providence December 27 Joseph Clark an engineer at Centerdale worsted mills was caught by a spinning frame belt and pulled into an 18 inch pulley. Miss Lottie Arnold an operative shut off power and freed him. Clark survived but was badly injured and likely sidelined for months as the wheel operated at high speed.
Springfield reports Patrick Driscoll, a carpenter on a White and Allen streets project, fell from the third floor 40 feet yesterday afternoon. He died at home an hour later with a broken neck and skull fracture. He leaves a wife and three children.
Boston aldermen approved a 2.9 million dollar loan bill tonight and sent it to the common council for approval. The measure includes a 1.3 million dollar loan that previously passed the lower branch last week. The Boston Advertiser quips about smoking jackets as a light postscript.

Frank Laroux and Philias Couture fought in a Trull road tenement. Couture, intoxicated, pressed into Laroux’s home with an axe and was knocked unconscious by Laroux who used the blunt end to disable him. Couture died later at Lowell General Hospital from three broken ribs and a pierced lung. Laroux was arrested as a self defense case. witnesses were scarce and the scene described a bloody room with a large pool of blood.
Frank Laroux faced a manslaughter charge after victim Philips Couture died at General hospital. Judge Hadley granted a continuance to January 4 with bail set at $5000. Laroux, described as small and unthreatening, claimed self defense with testimony from his brothers and a witness list including Mrs Laroux and others.
In Barre Vermont on December 27 Chief Patrick Brown lay in critical condition after being shot while returning to the station from quelling a disturbance at an Italian dance. Otto Bernaccio and Luige Sassi were arrested and identified as connected with the attempted assassination.
Chicago news notes Lulu Jenkins receives 4000 dollars paid by bondsmen of ex sheriff Henry Bushing for the lynching of her husband by a mob in Ripley County three years ago. Jenkins helped guard the gate during the incident as part of the group lynched for horse stealing.

London reports Lord Kitchener says two hundred Boers attacked a small police post near Boksburg and damaged mining machinery before being repelled. They also attacked Utrecht at 2 this morning and held up a train west of Pan, but were driven off in each case. Eastern Cape Colony forces moved toward Venterstad and were driven in that direction.
A massive blaze at the East India docks in London destroyed five large sheds packed with goods. The fire consumed 1000 bales of hemp and quantities of jute, marking one of the city’s most serious blazes in a decade. In Boston, Worcester case hearings moved to the supreme court full bench for January eighth.
Weat Virginia officials today submitted plans for a handsome building to be erected at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo. The orders were approved and the contract was let.
Dr. Ulysses H. Brown, renowned Syracuse oculist, was found dead in the hallway of a private residence. An apparent fall left a cut on his forehead, with his wife present at the scene. The death occurred in New York state on December 21.
Judge Thomas postponed the trial of L. Al ir the defaulting note teller of the Five Nations bank. The case had been set for the United States circus court and the January term. The judge was obliged to sit in Brooklyn this week.
Nellie Lowe of Haverhill sentenced to five months for drunkenness after prior offenses. Nellie and Mary Carney found not guilty of larceny from Maria Stuart amid a dispute over trunk contents and a pawn broker's testimony. Felix Brunelle sent to the Massachusetts reform school with six months suspended. Several others cited for drunkenness or assault with mixed outcomes. some cases dismissed or continued.
At a Wednesday executive council meeting the Governor named William E. McClintock of Chelsea for three years, Harold Parker of Lancaster for two, and John F. Manning of Pittsfield for one on the state highway commission. The new law takes effect next week and these men are already serving under it. Mary A. Nason of Roxbury was reappointed to the district police. S. P. Sharpies of Cambridge is state inspector of algiers. William Wheeler of Concord and N. L. Rowditch of Framingham were named trustees of the Massachusetts Agricultural College.
Agent E. W. Thomas of Tremont and Suffolk returns to the city and denies reports that he will leave his corporation to join Merrimack or serve as agent for both firms. He claims no knowledge of the stories and says there is no truth as far as he knows.
