A blaze at Arbuckle Bros cooperage in Brooklyn's riverfront district started in a first floor rubbish heap and quickly engulfed five factories. Fire Chief Purroy led Brooklyn engines as walls collapsed, killing Battalion Chief Thomas Coppinger and Firemen Michael O’Toole and Thomas Jeffries.
