Peter Brady a flagman at a Crawford New Jersey crossing and a colored woman died today when an express train struck them as Brady tried to rescue her. The woman stepped onto the track in front of the approaching train and could not retreat. Brady attempted to pull her away but was struck himself.
Portland Me December 22 The Port land bark Onaway anchored yesterday and last night in a dangerous position near Richmonds island but suffered no injuries and was towed into port today Onaway carried a cargo of malt from Turk's nd.
New York, Dre. 22. La Lorraine, en route from Havre to New York, was reported in wireless contact with Siasconset at 150 am, about 95 miles east of the Nantucket light ship.
Memphis Tenn Dec 22 One passenger was killed and six injured when a northbound Dlinole Central passenger train toppled 25 feet from an embankment between Canton Mississippi and Cairo. James Wade of Hiden Mississippi was crushed to death. Dr William Murphy of Jackson Tennessee was badly injured and expected to die.
A report from New York states Howard Goulds yacht Niagara was believed endangered while cruising toward the Atlantic coast. Revenue cutters were sent from Norfolk, Virginia in search after a telegram received from Gould to a relative in New York.
Feenk Carteien, described as a mine foreman, was sentenced to the house of correction for ten months after being charged with stealing furs from A Bennett in a city. The readable fragment notes the crime and sentence, mentioning residence and authorities in a period newspaper style.

Seaman Apprentice Robert Cremeer died after contracting spinal meningitis at the Newport naval training station. New York on December 22 reports a likely consolidation of Manhattan Island's subway elevated and surface lines after Thomas P.F. Alexander Pineault, 14, a shore maker by trade, surrendered to police claiming he wished to return to Milleorough county farm Grasmere, New Hampshire. He had been committed for larceny of a watch but escaped after service, and was conveyed back to Grasmere amid confusion and continued questioning by authorities.
In a long, tense session the Parsons faction wrested control from the Odell camp of the New York county Republican Committee. Herbert Parsons was elected chairman amid strong support from Gov. Higgins and President Roosevelt backers. The meeting saw bids, votes by acclamation, and promises of unity as Parsons and allies reorganize for the year ahead.
