New York dispatch reports Dr. Austin Flint left Cornelius Vanderbilt's home saying there was no change in the patient. He refused to disclose the temperature but noted it had not fallen overnight. He stated the heart was normal but did not indicate whether complications had developed.

Boston December 17 The American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions released its 92nd annual report showing year receipts of 845,105 with Massachusetts 228,131 and Connecticut 167,553 contributing large shares. The report notes indemnities for property destroyed in China in 1900 have been paid and adjusted, allowing reopening of missionary work, as a government committee reviewing Boxer damage claims has approved most submitted estimates, sometimes increasing them.
