Sylvanus C Smiley, a well known G A R veteran and former Post 120 hall janitor, collapsed while walking on Cambridge street. Died en route to his Washington street home after a heart disease diagnosis. A Maine native, 70, served in the 33d Massachusetts, wounded at Resaca, arm amputated, survived by wife and one sister.
