G A Wardman of Seattle brings a tale of a Lynn resident who owns Klondike property with a gold vein worth a fortune. Wardman, who accompanied John D Grant to Seattle, says Grant vanished after staking 450 acres and cold winters. miners near Grant report striking a vein running through his claims and want to buy it. Police seek Grant or his relatives to close a deal or share details.
In a terse note, Wardman recalls Grant as a shoemaker and notes the final correspondence arrived from this city several months earlier.
Yesterday in Fall River a conference between Manufacturers association and Textile council yielded no new proposals. Both sides cited brief time for discussion and agreed a Textile council meeting is needed before any action. Meantime Metacomet Manufacturing runs overtime with 325 workers, joined by three other mills, about 2000 employed on night shifts to meet large contracts, while unions oppose nightly schedules.
Meriden Connecticut December 11 The wages of sixty weavers at Rawitzier Brothers woolen mill have been advanced from 125 to 25 percent due to a shortage of help.
About 1500 York cotton mill operatives in Saco Maine were notified of a wage increase of 10 percent with weavers getting nearly 11 percent. Overseers' pay remains unchanged.
Revised list names workers killed in the Carbon Hill Coal Mine No. 7 explosion at Carbonado Washington on December 11. Among the 20 Americas and various nationalities are Leonard Johnson Henry Solari Matt Rehlen Victor Rubinski John H Jones David Thomas Howell Meredith Evan Lewis Richard Cape and others reflecting Finnish Polish Belgian German and Welsh heritage.

Boston December 11 Postmaster Frank W Chapin of Salisbury was sentenced by Judge Lowell in federal court to one year in state prison for a shortage in his accounts with the post office department amounting to about 300 dollars.
Republican precinct officers and deputies gathered at the party headquarters last night to finalize election arrangements. Chairman Poore spoke on duties and a confident note about an old fashioned Republican victory appeared among the attendees.
Seven members of the Dewey Club were arrested on West Third street near the pelling booth this afternoon. They face charges of drunkenness, while a remark about grand opera closes the report.

Voting began on time in all precincts as 119 ballots by 10.40 am, 158 by 10.30 am in Precinct 2, and 178 by 10.45 am in Precinct 3. Jeremiah F. Warren cast the first ballot at 6.02 am, a routine start after 10 years. Good order and no challenges marked the morning.
Precinct 1 reports unusually heavy voting at 10 55 with W1 total, similar to State election. Noon hour expected to push turnout higher than last year. Precinct 2 records early 11 15 tally of 246 votes and smooth progress. Total precinct 2 at 11 50 shows about half in, with 301 on register, overall 625 votes cast.
The ward saw light voting compared with other Republican areas though a larger turnout was expected at noon. Precinct 1 logged 145 at 10.30, Precinct 2 recorded 154 at 10.13, and Precinct 3 led with 239 at 10.15. Several candidates appeared at polling stations during the morning.
In Hesford square Precinct 2 registered 166 votes by 10.05 with precinct 3 at Chestnut and Fayette near noon showing fair turnout. Precinct 1 reported 333 votes by 11.11, about half its voting strength. A Democratic end precinct posted 238 votes by 11.15, while an independent club near by cheered politics but did not vote.
