In Kennebunkport Maine a large boiler exploded at Charles Ward’s ship yard this morning killing Alden Wildes 55 the lone worker in the yard. The blast wrecked the yard and sent a boiler fragment 300 feet away. The cause remains unclear.
New York December 9 The six day cycle race ends tonight at ten with six teams still in contention. The field has been excellent and only a few laps separate the leaders. Racers have averaged over 19 miles per hour throughout the event.
Frankfort Kentucky December 9 election commissioners signed W S Taylor's certificate of election as Governor of Kentucky this morning confirming his victory in the statewide race.
Princeton reports a charity fair for St Pauls Catholic church at Odd Fellows hall boosted by Mrs Grover Cleveland presenting a two foot tall dressed doll and a naming guess contest. The pink Mother Hubbard dress and 10 cent guesses drew crowds with about 300 dollars raised as the fair nears its end.
Washington Dec 8 The cruiser Detroit has sailed from Carthagena to Colon to await navy orders as the Colombian revolution is deemed ended. Its captain reports Colombia massing troops on the Venezuelan border and an expected assault on General Castro’s forces in retaliation for aid to revolutionists.

There are 22 vacancies in the second lieutenants list and another exam will be held at the navy yard on the second proxime to fill the corps.
