Paris December 2. The American peace commission finished talks with Gen Merritt and discussed Spanish commercial rights in the West Indies for years. Spanish sympathizers claim Aguinaldo intends to fight and commands about six ty thousand soldiers.
Stockholm December 2 An engine driver named Detke found a bottle near the Ural mountains containing two papers. One states Andre's balloon has crossed Ural mountains signed Andre. The other asks to give this letter to the consul or police.
Abbie L. Marble, aged sister-in-law of James G. Blaine and Augusta native, was killed when a limb struck her breast during a runaway near Oakland San Leandro. Dragged from the buggy, she died instantly.
Secretary of Agriculture James E. Wilson reviews domestic and foreign agricultural relations in his annual report. He calls for an emergency appropriation for future requirements that cannot be anticipated specifically. Exploration by officials and references to potential needs are noted.
At a Holyoke convention of the State Association of Truant Officers resolutions were adopted on the death of John F Williams of this city. William F Thornton of Lowell was named chair of the resolutions committee and elected vice president. Murphy said the bill covered work on other school buildings but was carelessly made out against Carter Street school.
Mrs Mary McKeon of 7 Tildencourt was admitted to St John's Hospital after breaking her hip when she fell last night. An ambulance transported her to the hospital this morning for treatment.
Mr Thomas Marshall and family spent Thanksgiving in Arlington at his son's home after a recent marriage. Misses Minnie and Annie Beauford visited their Pepperell home. Rev William J Clones preached a Thanksgiving sermon at the Baptist Church. A heavy snow storm kept suspender shop workers from returning Monday. Mrs C L Howard, Littleton grange member, attended Pomona grange in Concord and found the meeting pleasant. A surprise party for Miss Edith A Seifer in Westford entertained several young people Saturday night.

Republican council gains are anticipated while Democrats debate caucus legality and ward contests. Local clubs organize, with Lincoln club endorsing the full Republican ticket except one position.
Gertrude A Crallman 21 an attendant at the state hospital Worcester died by suicide after being detected stealing hospital property and confessing. Albert L Hooper 39 an electrician from 32 West Cedar Street died at Massachusetts General Hospital after a fall from his roof four stories to the sidewalk fracturing his skull.
The Congregational Club schedules its next meeting at High Street church Monday evening December 5 at 6 oclock. The O'Donnell and Gilbride Co announce tomorrow morning the opening of their Christmas department. Purchasers spending 25 cents or more will receive a box of D L Page Co. candy as a free gift. Santa Claus will be present to distribute candy to attendees. Women and Sewell’s chief should attend.
The new quarters on New Moody Street in Pawtucketville were dedicated Thursday evening with ceremonies and refreshments. The club now has nearly 100 members, opened by President Napoleon Grandchamp with speeches by Fr. Guillard and several local figures.
The French weekly Le Petit Journal appears under Charles R. Daoust who left L Etoile. It is Democratic in politics with a short quarto format. The first editorial claims Crowley will be the next mayor of Lowell and a long poem La Premiere Neige by Brother Dacust is praised amid readings for French speaking citizens.
J Kate Martin was sent to the workhouse for six months after a drunkenness case in Hadley Police Court. Harvey B Bellow faced larceny charges for stealing a watch from Mr Fee on Dutton Street and was found not guilty. Bellow’s companion, James T Ganley, was implicated in the theft but acquitted.
In the case of Baker v. Baker before Superior Court, AIKEN, the libelle witnesses dominated the forenoon session through cross examination at noon. The hearing began Wednesday afternoon and remains ongoing.
Two Lowell Corporals, Harry L. Wadsworth and John O. Laing, and their brides Grace G. Williston and Henrietta R. Lewis wed in a single night ceremony at 25 Amory Street after passing army enlistment exams in Boston. The couples, both to rejoin service, plan a brief honeymoon then three year terms followed by possible wife joins. Only close friends and company officers attended.
Obituaries note the deaths of several local residents. Sarah Brown formerly of Fayette Street died in Chicago leaving a husband and daughter. Hannah E. Wilkins, 71, of Middlesex Street, survived by a son and husband Harrison Wilkins. Fanny Williams, 52, of Queen Street, widow with a brother George W. Lewis. Susan C. L. Semple died in Laconia after illness. born Newburyport 1803. survived by ten children, eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. several relatives listed in Laconia Roxbury Belmont and Boston areas.
The funeral for Mrs Anne Burke was held yesterday at St Michael's Church with Fr Gilday officiating and burial in the Catholic cemetery. J F O'Donnell oversaw arrangements. Bearers were John McCluskey John Plunkett James Purcell William Bater y Peter Miner and John Flynn. A separate funeral for Mrs Flora Gillis occurred yesterday at the Immaculate Conception Church with Fr Lawrence officiating and music by Mr Haggerty. Burial followed at the Catholic cemetery with Undertaker O'Donnell in charge. Bearers were John McIntyre Edward Taylor George F Roberts and John McDonald.
The Ten of Us club entertained guests at the Parker house in Boston on Thursday among them were Lieut. Col. Butler Ames and Major Darling of the Sixth. Rev. J. H. Paradis returned from a three week vacation in Ontario and Quebec.
